Photo Fans Have a Clothes Encounter at BCM

Friends, fans, family and former models gathered at Behringer-Crawford Museum on
September 29 for the opening of Melvin Grier’s fashion photography exhibit, Clothes Encounter.

Cincinnati’s style scene during the ‘70s,’80s and ‘90s is the subject of Clothes Encounter , a retrospective of photos shot by Grier during his 33-year career as a photojournalist for the Cincinnati Post. The exhibit, which is part of FotoFocus Biennial 2018, will be on display at Behringer-Crawford through November 4. Admission is free to BCM members and FotoFocus Passport holders. For others, it is included with regular museum admission, which is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors 60+ and $5 for children. Wednesdays are Grandparents' Days: One grandchild admitted free with each paying grandparent. Parking is free.

Tot Tuesdays!: Spooky Halloween
Tuesday, October 16, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Get ready for the spookiest night of the year with ghostly crafts and yummy treats. Tot Tuesdays!, designed to help prepare preschoolers for reading readiness and socialization, are held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Admission is free for BCM members. For future members, cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors 60+ and $5 for children. There is a $1 craft fee per child. Reserve spots for you and your child at (859) 491-4003.
Brown Bag Luncheon: Clothes Encounter Talk by Melvin Grier
Thursday, October 18,  Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Photojournalist Melvin Grier, whose work is on display at BCM in the FotoFocus Biennial exhibit,  Clothes Encounter , will discuss his career and display his personal collection of fashion photos. The lunch and lecture will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the BCM Education Center. Bring your own brown bag lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Cost: $3 for BCM members; $10 for future BCM members. Reservations recommended: (859) 491-4003.
Homeschool Days: Whoo's Who: The Owls of Northern Kentucky
Tuesday, October 23, 10:30–11:30 a.m.
Learn about the guardians of the night sky in Kentucky, then dissect your own owl pellet and see what your owl liked to eat! Recommended for homeschool students in second through fifth grades. Cost is $8 for students (includes the lab fee) and $5 for adults. Preregister by October 19 at (859)-491-4003.
Chippie's Sensational Science Lab: Ghostly Science
Wednesday, October 24, 1-2 p.m.
Have fun learning while getting into the Halloween spirit: watch ghosts fly, examine x-ray skeletons, create leaf ghosts and make REAL pumpkin slime! Chippie, BCM’s chipmunk mascot, introduces science to children aged 3 to 5 in this fun and educational monthly series, which incorporates S.T.E.A.M. elements and age-appropriate experiments! Cost: museum admission plus $3 lab fee per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration required: call (859) 491-4003.
