LITURGICAL VISUAL ART RESOURCES

My intention to make my IN DUE SEASON collections of liturgical visual art resources available on my website has not yet been realized, so I am using this newsletter to provide links to two timely collections.

MAGNIFICAT: God's Pregnant People

This collection for Year A - Advent  employs a graphic that combines an image of Mary with the text of her song.  The collection provides a lens for exploring the weekly scripture texts for the Advent season, prompting consideration of the Word-made-flesh that longs to be birthed within each of us, and compelling our proclamation of God's in-breaking reign in theology and praxis.

The collection includes editable design templates for a banner, a projection graphic, sample bulletin covers, social media posts, and a postcard, as well as editable text documents for a newsletter article and a description of the design's inspiration. Congregations are encouraged to localize the templates and documents for their context. Congregations are also encouraged to use the collection as a starting point for developing additional applications to meet their specific needs.

TREE OF LIFE

The collection for Year A - Lent employs a Tree of Life graphic that complements Marty Haugen's Tree of Life and Awesome Mystery (Evangelical Lutheran Worship #334) to infuse the weekly scripture texts for Lent with mindfulness of the formation, reformation, and transformation made possible through our baptism into Christ.

The collection includes editable design templates for a banner, a projection graphic, a bulletin cover, and social media posts, as well as editable text documents for a sample Gathering Rite, a newsletter article, and a description of the design's inspiration. Congregations are encouraged to localize the templates and documents for their context. Congregations are also encouraged to use the collection as a starting point for developing additional applications to meet their specific needs.

Use this link to preview the TREE OF LIFE collection of resources. I'll forward links for downloading the specific resources as soon as they're available.

Please be mindful that, while it is a source of joy for me to be able to create these designs, templates, documents, etc., and to make them broadly available without charge, doing so is a labor-intensive process. Your feedback regarding the aesthetic appeal and hands-on usability of the collections are what will provide the impetus for me to create additional resources.  I invite you to be in touch to share your thoughts and any examples of how your congregation puts the resources to use.  Thanks!

BANNER COLLECTIONS

I can't tell you how gratifying it is to receive feedback and images from congregations that are incorporating my liturgical banner collections into their worship contexts. The installed banners look stunning!  I'm pleased to report that people are finding that finishing the banners is simpler and quicker than they anticipated and that they are enjoying the process of working together to create them.  Talk about a win-win!

For those who are nearing a decision about ordering one of the banner collections, be mindful that orders placed by November 15 will receive a $100 discount.  Just imagine how great it would be to have a beautiful banner available for each season in the new liturgical year!

A PRAYER FOR ALL SAINTS

Merciful God, gracious and benevolent, through your Son you invite all the world to a meal of mercy. Grant that we may eagerly follow his call, and bring us with all your saints into your life of justice and joy, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.  Amen. [Prayer of the Day, Evangelical Lutheran Worship]
