Spotlight On
Hard working parents making it work
We know being a parent during COVID-19 has been challenging, so we wanted to put the spotlight on you! First of all, you're doing great and remember to give yourself a little grace. Second, we've heard that many have had challenges with getting into the groove with schooling at home. Understandably so! That is exactly why we created for you the no-cost online training, Schooling at Home: Your guide to remote and hybrid learning with IEP supports. The Arc of Aurora’s advocacy team created a self-paced, online video training all about schooling your child with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) at home. The 30-minute training features videos of our advocacy team offering tips about schooling at home and also provides you with nine (9) downloadable tools to help you and your child be successful!

Need more resources?
As a 2020/2021 Member benefit, we are pleased to offer free access to enroll in A Primer on the IEP (also available with Spanish subtitles). This 1.5-hour course, a $50 value, features 4 trainers including Hanni Raley, Assistant Executive Director of The Arc of Aurora; and 3 The Arc of Aurora Individual Advocates including Jeff Fernengel, Petri Brill, and Khali Johnson. Course content reviews:

  • What is an IEP: Key components, reviews, rights;
  • Behavior, help, summary; and
  • Workshopping your child's IEP.

Contact your Individual Advocate or Erica Dennison if you don't have an advocate to request a special code to enroll in A Primer on the IEP for free!
