National Hispanic Month is now until October 15th!
Last week, I announced that I would devote the commentary section each week to an inspiring story in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month...so, here you go!
Rita Moreno was born in Puerto Rico in 1931. The actress, singer, and dancer began her career early, starring on Broadway in her teens before earning acclaim for her portrayal of Anita in West Side Story in 1961. That role earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first Latina to win the award. She would go on to be one of only 17 people to have received the four major entertainment honors—Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards (EGOT). Her work has paved the way for other Hispanic actors and actresses in Hollywood!!

This is a FREE EVENT...that's the first reason to attend.
But the main reason to attend is to salute all of the brave women and men who escaped their abusers and survived the horrible persecution in their lives.
Oh...and another reason...it's going to be a fabulous show!
And one more reason...it's time to celebrate and honor
"Harvest Home." an organization that helps to prevent abuse from occurring in the first place.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month...become aware...become part of the solution! You may save a life one day.

VERY IMPORTANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
|
|
Our Domestic Violence event, the Courage Jubilee is coming up very soon, on October 30th at the Loft Ensemble in North Hollywood!
It would be much more difficult and that much harder to plan and arrange an event like this without the help of our sponsors!
So, each week until our event, we'll be recognizing our sponsors via our newsletter!
Today, we'd like to recognize Marilynn Bradbury, realtor at Ramsey Schilling and our Board secretary, who always steps up and gives financially or of her time (usually both) to help our Chamber, our members, community...just an amazing person! We are all lucky to have her in our community!
Thank you Marilynn for sponsoring our event!!

What is Rosh Hashanah?
It is the first of what we call the High Holidays (or High Holy Days), a ten-day period that ends with Yom Kippur—the holiest day of the Jewish year. On Rosh Hashanah, Jews from all over the world celebrate God's creation of the world. Rosh Hashanah is two days long, and it usually occurs during the month of September.
It is also known as the "Jewish New Year..."
This year, Rosh Hashanah occurs from Sunday, September 25th to Tuesday, September, 27th...
So, to all of our Jewish friends,,,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
