My name is Laura Washington, and I am the Family Support Specialist for The Northeast Regional Early Intervention Collaborative-Helpful Hands. I come to you with many years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education. I have a degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Education. Throughout my work in Early Childhood Education, I have acquired considerable knowledge about inclusive environments that serve children ages zero to six. I have worked as an infant teacher, a toddler teacher, a preschool teacher and then moved into administration where I spent the last 13 years as a Center Director. I also come to you as a mother of three young children, ages 3, 6 and 9.
My job as your Family Support Specialist is to provide support to you through the Early Intervention Process and in your journey as a parent of a child that participates in the program. I will be offering parent education, maintaining the Family Matters website, and will be here to listen and support you. The Family Matters website will give you many tools and resources that could help answer any questions you might have. I am also very active on our social media accounts and encourage you to like and follow our accounts. I post multiple free resources a week, such as community events, webinars, and other relevant information. You can reach me at 973-200-1230 or by email at laura@nreic.org. I am excited that your family is apart of early intervention and looking forward to supporting you and your family.
