Representing GCF at the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce

Mark sells CSA to a local jet pilot.

On Thursday, Mark and Debbie took just-picked spinach and kale to the Healthy Business Mixer, a Chamber of Commerce event that was held in the ProJet hangar at the Leesburg airport. The woman in the photo above was so surprised by the taste of fresh spring kale that she decided to join the Wine'ing Butcher group site in Ashburn.

On Sunday, Great Country Farms will have a table at the Superhero 5K, a Chamber of Commerce benefit race which will donate its proceeds to Mobile Hope.
Come on out to Bolen Park in your GCF tee shirt to show the farm's support for this cause.

Farm Notes

The field crew returned from Mexico last week, and they're hard at work already. If you see them around and you speak and Spanish, stop and ask them how their winter was.

We're you-picking beautiful spinach and kale, asparagus is coming up across the road, and the strawberries look great. This week Mark and the crew planted four new varieties of peaches and three new varieties of apples. It's a good week to be a farmhand.

Reminder

We've posted this year's edition of the employee handbook on our website; please read it before you come to work, and bring a copy of the signature page along with you. Also please be sure to check the schedule regularly so you know when you're working. And the weather is unpredictable at this time of year, so you might want to wear long sleeves under your GCF tee shirt.

Let's get out there and create memorable moments!

Cindy and Chuck Izzo of Appalachian Outdoor Readiness
When I moved to Western Loudoun 14 years ago, you couldn't buy a stitch of clothing anywhere this side of the outlet mall in Leesburg. Not so much as a tee shirt or a pair of socks. And if you wanted rain gear, or a headlamp, or a water bottle, or any piece of equipment conducive to outdoor life on the Blue Ridge, you had to go all the way to Reston. Well Chuck and Cindy Izzo changed all that.
