Allyson Robinson will serve as the District’s new Director of School Safety and Athletics

At the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, November 21, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Allyson Robinson as the District’s new Director of School Safety and Athletics. The previous director, Tom Shelton, left the District in October to pursue other career opportunities.

Allyson has served as the Principal of Power Middle School since 2015. Allyson began her career in Farmington Public Schools in 2000 as an English Teacher at Harrison High School moving into the role of Assistant Principal in 2011. As Assistant Principal, two of her main roles were Athletic Director and Crisis Team Leader for the school.

“I am very excited to be serving the district in a different capacity and look forward to my new role,” stated Robinson. “I will miss the day-to-day interactions with Power students as they consistently give me hope for our future.”

"I am looking forward to Mrs. Robinson joining our Central Office team,” stated Superintendent Christopher J. Delgado. “Her building leadership at both the middle and high school levels provides her with a unique perspective to support the athletic continuum, and her experience with Safety and Security will enhance the excellent infrastructure and training we have in place."

David Tucker, a retired Walled Lake middle school principal, will serve as the Interim Principal during the principal search process. Interviews are expected to take place in December.

Jodie Middleton selected as the new Power Middle School principal

After a comprehensive hiring process, Jodie Middleton rose to the top out of 45 applicants and has been selected as the new principal at Power Middle School. Middleton follows Allyson Robinson who moved to the position of Director of School Safety and Athletics for the District in November.

Middleton earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University and her Master of Education in Early Childhood from Oakland University. She also earned her Ed Specialist Degree from Western Michigan University.

Middleton has served as the principal at Auburn Elementary School in the Avondale School District since 2017. She has also served as a K-8 principal at Taylor International Academy and as a Middle School Director for Eton Academy.

“I have been impressed and truly excited to hear and believe in her educational philosophy that is grounded in a positive and inclusive learning environment that inspires both students and staff to simply be their best versions of themselves,” said Bradley Paddock, Farmington Public Schools’ Assistant Superintendent of Talent Development.

“I cannot wait to meet the kids,” stated Middleton. “I’m really excited to be a part of Farmington Public Schools.”

Forest Elementary School teacher Tiffiney Lee chosen to compete on “Wheel of Fortune”

Tiffiney Lee, fifth grade teacher at Forest Elementary School, was a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune!” In November, Tiffiney flew out to California and was selected to be a participant. Her episode will air on December 29, 2023 at 7:00 PM.

Tiffiney has been with Farmington Public Schools (FPS) for 22 years. Over the years, she has been a teacher at Warner Middle School, Wood Creek Elementary School, and East Middle School.

As a child, Tiffiney can recall always watching “Wheel of Fortune'' but never dreamed she would be one of the contestants on the show. During her time in college, Tiffiney and her roommate always watched the show together and would shout out answers towards the television. One day, they decided to apply to be contestants on the show, but never received a call. It became a tradition for them to apply every year, but never had any luck.

In August of 2023, Tiffiney received an email stating that “Wheel of Fortune'' was looking for contestants. Tiffiney and her college roommate decided to apply again. This time, they both were chosen for an audition.

Tiffiney had her first audition in late September via Zoom.

“I was so nervous,” Tiffiney said. “But my Forest colleagues encouraged me to smile and to just be myself.”

During her first audition Tiffiney described the letters as really hard to see which made her nervous. But, she smiled, stayed calm, and finished the audition proudly. At the end, the casting director ended with a simple “thank you” and that was the end. She didn’t hear any news for over a month. Finally, just before Halloween, Tiffiney received an exciting email with the heading of “congratulations!”

In November, Tiffiney, her daughter Brooklyn, and her sister Traci, headed to California.

“Being on the set of Wheel of Fortune was like a dream come true,” Tiffiney said.

She was able to meet Pat Sajak, Vanna White, and contestants from all across the country.

“My favorite memory from this experience was getting to meet Pat Sajak,” Tiffiney said. “He gave all of the contestants great advice and helped us relax and enjoy the experience. This is his last season as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” and it was great to get the chance to stand next to him as I played the game.”

“Wheel of Fortune” is one of the most recognized game shows of all time. It has been on air for 48 years.

“This was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget,” said Tiffiney.

Congratualtions Luke Cadeau!

Join us in giving a huge FPS congratulations to Luke Cadeau from our Facilities Management Department, who was honored as Firefighter/EMT of the Year for the City of Plymouth!

Luke has been a firefighter since 2016. He also works at FPS, helping to keep the District running smoothly.
