Union County to Launch Revamped Website

Connecting with the dynamic people and taking part in the wonderful array of events and activities in Union County are the most exciting aspects of my job.

The Chamber of Commerce along with the Convention and Visitors Bureau continually strive to maintain a vibrant local economy that includes ongoing community improvements and business advancements in Union County.

Continual changes in technology demand that organizations stay on top of the latest trends in communication - and ours is no exception. The Chamber and CVB website, www.unioncounty.org, serves as the 'front door' to our businesses, our visitors and certainly the community itself. Our goal is to ensure the site not only be attractive and welcoming, but also clearly convey the message that Union County is an ideal place to live, work and visit.

We're thrilled to announce the plans for exciting enhancements to the website that will improve its aesthetics, allow us to communicate more effectively and serve our members and community in new ways!

In order to achieve these updates, local businesses and individuals have graciously stepped forward with offers of sponsorship funds. In appreciation of this generosity, we have created two sponsorship levels for others who would like to assist. Contributors will be given recognition on both our new website and in our monthly newsletter distribution. Contact the office for further details.

In the spirit of embracing changes, it's true that the most important things don't. Nurturing a caring connected community will always be at the core of our mission. We look forward to sharing the new 'front door' to Union County, Ohio with you and with the world! Please contact us with any feedback you may have.

Your continued support of the Chamber, CVB and local community mean so very much.

The Convention & Visitors Bureau Board Retreat

On January 15, the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board had their annual retreat at Bokes Creek Winery.

Melinda Huntley, Executive Director of the Ohio Travel Association, was the mediator for the group as they spent the morning brainstorming and developing ideas for how to improve tourism throughout Union County.

One of the activities Huntley led the group in was a SWOT analysis.
A SWOT analysis gets the group thinking about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are facing their organization.

Through the analysis, the board determined five important things to keep in mind for 2014. These included marketing, branding, collaboration, perception of the CVB, and partnerships. The board accomplished a lot in the short amount of time and will continue to work on their developments throughout the year.

Tool Technologies by Van Dyke specializes in making your custom cut and stock parts from metal and plastic. Our focus is on making close-tolerance parts, including those parts that are too complicated for other manufacturers. Our present product mix includes automotive parts, parts from the electronics and battery industries, and meter parts. We are a "one-stop-shop" that allow you to source all your parts made from a variety of materials from one supplier.

Tool Technologies was founded by Steve Van Dyke in 1982 in the basement of his duplex apartment. Steve's philosophy has been that of Napoleon Hill. He began small and has always been able to grow and become more successful and proficient. One of Steve's earliest machine tools is displayed in the lobby of Tool Tech's current building. Although it is not used today, it serves as a reminder that one need not have the most expensive equipment at the beginning in order to learn to serve customers well and keep them returning for high quality parts.

From its humble beginnings, Tool Tech has moved into an extra room in a mobile home and later into a garage. Tool Tech moved into a 4000 square foot building in Milford Center, Ohio in the year 1996. Tool Tech outgrew that building and moved to a 16,000 square foot building in Marysville, Ohio in 2010. Tool Tech currently has 11 full-time and part-time employees to serve you.

Please stop in for a tour if you are in the area.
