"Follow Your Heart"

It is critical to follow the right path when pursuing our God-given dreams. If you choose to listen to your heart (God's leading), you will discover that you can know better than anyone else what's best for you. God has many ways of leading us by His Spirit, whether you call it - a hunch, intuition, a gut feeling, or your heart's desire. However, some people fall into the trap of ignoring that still small voice within and instead listen to what their heads tell them. It's easy to get caught in the snare of trusting logic and what makes sense rather than the inner nudging of God. When that happens, people tend to trust outside sources or believe others know more and have better ways for them to reach their dream than they do themselves. God said, "His sheep know His voice, and the voice of a stranger they will not follow. " Your heart is usually God speaking to you, and through prayer and faith, you will hear clearly as He directs and guides you. It takes practice and courage but following what God plants in your heart will not lead you astray. You may be so accustomed to listening to your head rather than your heart that it may be scary at first, but Holy Spirit is always ready to guide, He's your helper. He can provide answers and solutions when you thought there was none. Rest assured that you can know what's right for you as you dream and set goals.

Here are some steps you can take to Follow Your Heart:
1. Decide to listen to your heart when it comes to improving your life.  Once you realize that God speaks to you that way and there is a spiritual source of supernatural direction available to you, you will have more assurance when it comes to altering what's been taking place.

2. Learn to distinguish between your head and God's voice.  For example, when you have a decision to make, your head may tell you to trust only common sense and what you have learned from past experiences. On the other hand, Holy Spirit will give you inner hunches and promptings that may seem unconventional or peculiar at times.  "I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit's instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do"  (Galatians 5:16 TLB).

3. Don't confuse following your heart with impulsive behavior.  Although acting impulsively now and then may enable you to be less rigid and loosen up to pursue bigger dreams, some spontaneous decisions may result in reckless and irresponsible conduct. When it's the voice of God, following your heart will always be empowering and beneficial for your life and others. Your dreams can be achieved as you act in trustworthy and conscientious ways.

4. Become familiar with how it feels to follow your heart.  Rather than being panicky, anxious, or uneasy, when you are truly hearing from God in your innermost being, you will feel calm, confident, joyful, energized, and free - even though your dream may pull you from your comfort zone.

5. Know that few things in life worth pursuing are risk-free.  Following your heart may mean taking a positive risk. That means doing your homework, weighing the pros and cons, understanding the outcomes, and making your decision to take a risk based on a combination of faith and fact-finding. When you make a decision based on your core beliefs (in the Word of God) and true values, you will not regret it.

So don't ignore that inner voice, go to the Word of God and test it and see if God is trying to get your attention. Listening to the true message of your heart (verified against God's principles in His Word) ensures you will follow a path that is just right for you, and that makes it easier to leave your comfort zone when you want to achieve your dreams.
