In celebration of the resurrection of our Lord on Easter Sunday, The Deacons invite you to play a role in the beautification of the sanctuary with spring flowers.
Order forms will be available on Sunday in the bulletin or print the order form below.
| The family worship space is a place for families with children to be able to worship together in the sanctuary. It has room for children to move around, tables to do puzzles, draw, and color. There are also 2 bean bags to read books on. Stop by this Sunday to take a look at this great space for families. |
By: Stephen Schall, Music Director
Again this Sunday we’ll hear the choir sing acapella masterpieces by English Renaissance composers. First, the Kyrie from the Mass for Four Voices, which we’ll sing each Sunday in Lent, and at the offertory, we have Nolo Mortem Peccatoris by Thomas Morley. The poem of this anthem is notable for being macaronic — that is, containing two languages, in this case, English and Latin. The text is poignant and Morley's music conveys its meaning beautifully.
| During Lent we will highlight two hymns. During the early weeks we will sing the ancient text, Kind Maker of the Word. This is a seventh-century Latin hymn, Audi benigne Conditor,” that is attributed to Gregory the Great (c. 540-604). It has been used for centuries during Lent at the daily services prayed in monasteries. Gregory was a nobleman who became a Benedictine monk, and later, pope. He contributed greatly to the universal church, but among musicians he is famous for founding or reestablishing the Roman singing school. Gregorian Chant is named for him. |

A New Thing I’m Up To:
From January to March, I will be taking an online course with the goal of receiving an Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising. This program, offered through an organization called the Lake Institute, will give me tools and resources to better equip myself and the church to do some outreach-focused fundraising.
Update as of March 7:
I am now through the eight week course. We are starting to wind up and I will start work on my final project now. Stay tuned for some more info. 😁
