Hope & Possibility® Milestones: 2003

"My favorite part of each Hope & Possibility® race is cheering people on at the finish line. Seeing the joy from people of all abilities increase their pace is so magical. You feel the spirit and sense of accomplishment. I know what that feels like," says Trisha Meili, Founding Board Chairman of Achilles.

Meili founded Hope & Possibility® with Achilles founder and former CEO Dick Traum, who sought to create a race for the disability community to come together with all runners. Its name was inspired by Meili’s memoir about a high profile attack that left her with a traumatic brain injury and her recovery, I Am the Central Park Jogger – A Story of Hope and Possibility.

Running has made an everlasting impact on Meili's life and countless others since she raced the first Hope & Possibility® in 2003 with former New York Governor and Achilles Board Co-Chair David Paterson, who is visually impaired. Will you join us as we celebrate the 20th annual Achilles Hope & Possibility® 4M Presented by TD Bank on Sunday, June 26?

"All the love and support I got during my recovery gave me hope and from that hope, possibility emerged. I didn't think that much into the future, but I thought the race was a great idea and I hoped it would just keep going. I’m overjoyed it has," adds Meili.

By racing, you help Achilles International create hope to see what is possible for athletes with disabilities.
