We are launching a district-wide e-newsletter to ensure that our staff and community members are informed about all of the great things happening in GGUSD. It is our goal that the #GGUSDPRIDE E-newsletter will provide you with timely, at-a-glance information about GGUSD and our schools.

Can you spell mnemonic?

GGUSD’s 30th annual Elementary School Spelling Bee trophy was awarded to Patton Elementary School fifth grader Brandon Tran on Wednesday, March 15. Tran correctly spelled the deciding word, mnemonic, to become the top speller among students from 43 elementary schools in GGUSD. Jeremy Nguyen from Sunnyside Elementary School took second place, and Tommy Nguyen from Allen Elementary School took third place.

A Work of Art

Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones presented Marvin Nguyen, a fourth grader from Post Elementary School, with the Mayor’s Award in the district's annual First Impressions Art Show. Click here for more about the art show.

Congrats to La Quinta High School's Creative Writing program for making it to the finals of the OC RYSE Poetry Slam

#WhyITeach

Last month, more than 650 teachers participated in the #WhyITeach campaign. We loved reading their personal stories about what inspired them to choose teaching as a career.

The #WhyITeach campaign capitalized on the power of social media to showcase our awesome teachers to our parents and community members.

Thank you to our bus drivers for all you do to keep our students safe!

Bus Roadeo

GGUSD hosted the 57th annual School Bus Safety Roadeo on March 11, a safe driving competition among bus drivers from across the state. Our bus drivers earned 11 of the 23 awards presented, and were cheered on by GGUSD employees, administrators, and board members. Read more.

The Magic of Disney

Riverdale Elementary School students brought the magic of Disney to life in the school's production of "The Jungle Book." Thanks to a partnership with Disney Musicals in Schools and Segerstrom Center for the Arts, students at Allen, Eisenhower, Hill, Riverdale,and Stanley elementary schools performed Disney shows this year.
