Pilgrimage of the Black Christ
Dear Viewer,

We are experiencing yet another week of Covid sickness and death, as well as another week of chaos in our country. It can be daunting and frightening, and yet we know that it is the Spirit of God that moves us forward - that keeps us going, even when we can't see an end to it all. I do pray you will keep yourself and others safe with this pandemic, as it continues to spread in our city. I also pray you will stay safe through the next week as we look to our country to inaugurate a new president. There are credible threats to not only our Capitol, but also to minority groups/individuals around the country. We will do well to stay in and stay prayerful.

While chaos swirls around us, there are wonderful things happening as well. This Sunday, our Spanish-speaking congregation celebrates the Black Christ. There will be Marimba music on our front steps after the service, so tune in to our Facebook Live page to enjoy the outdoor concert!

This weekend, we also celebrate Martin Luther King Day. MLK left a legacy of civil rights, social justice, and helping the oppressed. We will look at some of our church members in action this Sunday! Don't miss this service. The message this week is entitled, Get Woke! If you'd like to read ahead, check out Psalm 139:1-12, 2-24 (Contemporary English Version) and I Samuel 3:1-20 (Revised Standard Version).

God bless!

Pastor Keith

Pictures, Please!
It's that time again - for all of us to participate! During the next few weeks, we'd love for you to take a picture of you making the sign of the heart (or finding some other creative way to display a heart!) for our Passing of the Peace pictures. We'll feature them through the end of February, as we have Valentine's Day and American Heart Month. Send your pictures to [email protected]. Remember, use good lighting and take the picture in landscape mode.

Psalm 19: 1-2 (Common English Bible)

1Heaven is declaring God’s glory; the sky is proclaiming our Creator’s handiwork.
2 One day gushes the news to the next, and one night informs another what needs to be known.

Oh, gracious and loving God. You are God of earth, moon, and sky. God of sea, land and air.
Creator you balance the earth on your fingertip, and you hold each of our lives in your loving bosom. Help us to hold each other in love and care. Help each one to experience your justice by acting justly and graciously. Help each one to work for the causes of equity, peace and justice in our minds, bodies, souls and spirits.
Teach us, oh divine One, the meaning of inner disturbance and inner peace. Teach us how to pay attention to, and resound in ways that make lasting change inside and out. Let us each, like the heavens, declare the glory of our God in ways that are special, and heartfelt. Spark in each of your children a movement towards love and hope.
In your many names we pray,
Amen, Ashe, and so it is.
