Moving from Despair to Resilience
Good Morning Friend of GAFSC,

Welcome to #GivingTuesdayNow, a new, global day of philanthropy and unity in support of organizations working to combat the impact of COVID-19. Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFSC) is excited to garner support to make a positive impact on the children, youth and families we proudly serve in Ward 4 and other DC communities.

With each day, the harsh effect of this crisis is visible and mounting, especially among those who were already challenged with meeting their family’s basic needs in the midst of health, economic, education and other disparities.  Our goal is to help these families move from despair to resilience.

We know this is possible through caring, help, hope and the support of people like you.

Meet the Carrolls
The Carrolls are a family of 10 who reached out to GAFSC for support as a result of family struggles due to the Covid-19 virus. The family had previously experienced homelessness, instances of food shortages, school absenteeism in middle school, and difficulty paying rent. As the head of household, Ms. Carroll was unable to leave her young children alone even to get food. With the engagement of our GAFSC staff, the family has accessed an array of services we provide, including food deliveries, pro-social activities for youth and assistance with other basic needs. The Carroll family has endured and their resilience continues to grow as we remain committed to help them and others achieve all that is possible despite these trying times.
Ms. Carroll and her family enjoying some quality time.
Your generosity during this pandemic will be extremely helpful to our families. Please make your donation to GAFSC NOW!
