Welcome Evergreen Academy Families!
This week's newsletter is the first to find its way to the inboxes of families from Evergreen Academy. We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect and build a stronger relationship with you.

Almost everything we do in mission and ministry (except for the occasional congregational meeting -- the "business of the church") is for the entire community. We don't do things "just" for the church or the preschool or our neighbors. Consider yourselves invited to everything here, and we encourage you to invite your friends, family, and neighbors, too. When we say that God's doors are open to all, we really mean it!

"God's Work, Our Hands"
Sunday, September 12, 2021
11:00 a.m.

Let's gather for worship on this celebratory day, as we give thanks for all the good work that God continues to do through us here at Zion. During our worship service, we will be completing individual spiritual gift inventories, and we encourage as many people to attend as possible. Make Connections: Invite, Equip, Serve
Beginning this week, Pastor Potter will lead an 8-week Bible study using Dr. Matthew Skinner's book "Acts: Catching Up with the Spirit."

Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom
Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in Katie Luther Chapel and via Zoom

Matt Skinner's book can be purchased from all major booksellers. The Zoom login information and schedule of readings can be found here. Please plan to bring your Bible (print or digital) to the Bible study.
Our monthly grief group is an important opportunity for mutual support that meets from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of the month.

The next meeting date is tomorrow, September 9th.

Pastor David Potter facilitates the group in a hybrid format; you are welcome to join in-person or via Zoom.

Help for Haiti Continues

Zion and Evergreen Academy are partnering with Food for the Poor to support immediate and long-term relief.

To learn about donating money, food, and supplies, visit the "Help for Haiti" page on our website by clicking here.

And, for those who may be wondering, Lutheran Disaster Response is on the ground to help the people of Louisiana who have been affected by Hurricane Ida. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Notes & Reminders
  • In light of the increase in COVID cases locally, we are encouraging all who attend Sunday worship in person to resume wearing masks, regardless of your vaccination status.
  • Two of our AA groups have resumed meeting in person recently: Women's AA (Mondays at 7:00 p.m.) and Old Timers AA (Saturdays at 7:00 p.m.). AA Groups meet in Katie Luther Chapel.
  • To claim a special date for altar flowers on a Sunday morning, contact Cantor Kurt Schmidt. The cost of the arrangements is $40 and you may take the flowers home after Sunday morning worship.
