We invite to to come at 9:00a.m. Sunday morning for a time of small group study.
Come every week or drop in as you can, all are welcome!

We Make the Road by Walking by Brian D. McLaren.
Group will discuss Chapter 5 on Sunday September 2


If you have children, there will be Sunday school activities during this time so you can focus on your group.


Also during this time we need help setting up a simple protein snack for kids and adults to grab with a drink around 9:45am. At 9:55 this snack is put away and the goodies for after worship can be on the counter to be set up around 10:45. Help to host Coffee Fellowship after worship  Link to sign up calendar

September is "Servanthood & Stewardship" Month! Look forward to hearing about ways our church is serving in the world as we are all encouraged to support that work. Stewardship letters & cards were given out at church and mailed this week. Be looking for them!

Some Dates of importance at COM:
  • Anyone with a budget request for 2019, email your request to Rick McConn by September 16th ~ [email protected]
  • All who consider COM a church home, please join us at one of these 2 Congregational Brainstorm Opportunities: Sunday September 23rd or Sunday September 30th. After worship from 11:30-1:00 pm. Brainstorm church goals, discussion of open leadership positions and our 2019 budget so the leadership team has your input as we start planning for this upcoming year.
  • Next Leadership Team Meeting: Sunday October 21st ~ 11:30 - 1:00 pm
Final Church BBQ of the season will be at Church of the Mountains

11:30 - 1:00 p.m.

Thanks to a gift from Pat, we have a church BBQ that needs to be dedicated!

Sign Up to bring something for the Potluck Meal. (sign up available starting Sunday!)

The church does have site #2 at West End Beach reserved for this day. Anyone is welcome to use that area and continue the fun there later in the day/evening.

Come for some or all of the time. Many hands make light of the work to get our church building & grounds ready for winter.

Food Resource Support Center ~ More Volunteers Needed
Thanks to Tim & Sandy Butler, Marissa Castilo, Sabrina Barnham, Rick McConn, Doug Devore, Pastor Donna, Cathie, Anne Rarick, Patrick Mullen, Mike Holley, Emily Battaglia, Ursela & Jeff Heffernon ~ COM had a successful week serving at the FRSC this week.

The volunteer leadership from the 5 churches collaborating on the FRSC are looking for some extra volunteer help! Especially during the summer months with the increase in travelers & homeless around town this time of year.

United for Action is committed to supporting our North Tahoe/Truckee neighbors who need basic daily essentials-for neighbors who are victims of domestic violence, at risk of harm or illness, or homeless. Here is a link for all the details: Learn more about the project here!


THANK YOU for all the support with our Backpack Project, we completed 1000 backpacks that will be given to our most vulnerable neighbors in the Tahoe, Truckee & Reno communities..

Want an opportunity to help serve refugee families in the Reno area? Refugees have many needs from transportation, clothing, tutoring and practice speaking English, or just having friends to hang out with! Sparks UMC mentors a family from Congo, and we mentor a family from Afghanistan.

Kids Can Recycling Ministry: Please continue to bring your CRV recycling to COM and support our ministry with Truckee Lutheran Presbyterian of turning garbage into good!

These recyclables are exchanged for money which is being donated to International Health Partners and Hands of Hope to provide life and hope for children in Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Join us for Centering Prayer 
in the Gethsemane House on  
Tuesday & Wednesday 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.

Standing with our Immigrant Students & Families in the Truckee Tahoe Area we rely upon the Family Resource Center of Truckee to have the most relevant immigration information: FRC Immigration Info Link

Great news!! Charlotte Carpenter & Stephanie Chan have joined me in our support of United for Action and will be helping us connect with the Family Resource Centers to learn more about how we can support our immigrant neighbors. Stay tuned for more information!!
