ARMSTRONG COUNTY, PA -- On Tuesday, Oct. 8, The Richard G. & Barbara A. Snyder General Charitable Fund, a component of the Armstrong County Community Foundation (ACCF), granted Humane Animal Allies $10,000 for its Mercy Fund program.
The Mercy Fund benefits those struggling in our community whom the county's humane police officers (HPOs) meet while investigating neglect and cruelty cases.
When possible, officers try to help those struggling to care for pets due to aging, job loss and unemployment, physical and mental illness, physical disability, domestic abuse, drug addiction, eviction or homelessness, and incarceration.
Armstrong County is served by three volunteer HPOs: Officer Susan Clark representing Humane Animal Allies, Chris Jirak O'Donnell representing Orphans of the Storm in Rayburn Township, and Officer Amber Phillips representing Champion's Crusaiders Rescue in Leechburg.
"We cannot fully express our appreciation to the Richard G. & Barbara A. Snyder General Charitable Fund and the ACCF for this generous support. We hope to help many in our community who are struggling to care for pets so they can focus on turning their lives around," said Officer O'Donnell.
Humane Animal Allies promotes respect and compassion for all living creatures in the hearts and minds of those in our community. To learn about laws protecting animals, how to report animal abuse or neglect, or donate to help with this work, visit www.humaneanimalallies.org.
