Are you interested in connecting with stakeholders in the employee ownership ecosystem or learning more about succession planning? If yes, then make sure to attend the Durango Employee Ownership Meet & Greet at Steamworks Brewing in Downtown Durango on Friday, September 20th from 2 – 4 pm in the courtyard on the north side of the building. This is a networking event focused on relationship building and resource sharing. This event is hosted by Kris Oyler, Co-Founder and CEO of Peak Food & Beverage; Kerry Siggins, CEO of StoneAge and Chair of the Colorado Employee Ownership Commission; and Matthew Licina, Program Manager of the Colorado Employee Ownership Office, part of OEDIT (the CO Office of Economic Development and International Trade). LEAF PEEPIN’ & RIVER SHOOTIN’
Southwest Colorado puts on a heck of a display each fall, and you can get a front row seat to the pigment-fueled peep show on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Choose from multiple fall excursions through stunning landscapes of golden aspens dotting the mountainsides. The Cowboy Poetry Train runs on October 4th with plenty of on-board entertainment to make the trip to Silverton go by in a flash. There’s also a new night train outing for photographers that stops at iconic locations along the Animas River lit by expert night train photographer Pete Lerro! COMPLIMENTING COMPLIMENTARY TRANSIT
Durango Transit’s Free Fare summer ended yesterday with all normal fares resuming on the city’s transportation options. The program provided free public transportation for the months of June, July and August made possible through City Council’s discretionary use of the Lodgers’ Tax. Free Fare summer saw 6% more ridership than last year, providing approximately 130,982 rides during the three-month period. BID hopes to see this program return next summer! City bus fare in 2024 is $1 per trip for adults and .50 cents for seniors or those with disabilities. A standard city bus pass is $3/day or $10/week with discounts for students, seniors, low income families, people with disabilities, and veterans. EASY, MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Did you know the City has multiple boards and commissions to help move our community forward that are made of volunteers? The City of Durango is currently seeking residents interested in serving in volunteer roles for the following boards and commissions: Board of Ethics, Election Commission, Community Development Commission, Financial Advisory Board, Retirement Board, Community and Cultural Relations Commission.
