Support for Halifax’s Take Back Event
Last week’s Drug Enforcement Administration take back event received 22.5 pounds of unused or expired medication. The Halifax Police Department reminds the community that there are daily take back services provided. Help keep your community by safely discarding expired medication in the proper places. The Police Department will have a disposal box in its lobby for the remainder of the year. Stop by anytime!

Historical Tidbit:
Do you know your Halifax Villages?
Village - noun - a settlement usually larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town; an incorporated minor municipality.
In early Halifax settlement days, our geography lent it self to clusters of small family farms, so villages had a more compact design than other colonies of early America. The essence of each village was centered around the particular commercial /industrial goods it produced. Homes were close together and each village had its common areas such as a meeting house, woodlands, and pasture land. It's here, still to this day, our unique tight-knit community bond. The historical Halifax villages are Hemlock Island, Halifax Station, Halifax, Halifax Beach, Howards Island, Pitch Pine Point, and South Halifax.
