Fur Festival Brings Together Friends Of All Kinds
On Saturday, September 19, Halifax Generations hosted its 2nd Annual Fur Festival. The event was heavily attended by both humans and animals. Highlights included the Satucket 4-H group from Middleboro, who brought dogs, as well as baby goats and piglets, the Great Dane Starr, along with two other Plymouth County Comfort Dogs (pictured on the left), a blessing of the animals by the Reverend Bill Wildman, Bob Rice and his K-9 tribute exhibit, and many raffle drawings and contest winners. One big winner, in more ways than one, was George (pictured on the right), who picked up prizes for biggest dog and best in show.
Generations Secretary Jeanne Kling would like to thank the event's many sponsors and vendors, including Tiny & Sons, The Barker House, Dave's Automotive, North Easton Savings Bank, Rockland Trust, Jill Ripley - eXp Realty, Meena Sharma - eXp Commercial, John & Sons, RG Automotive, Nessralla Farms of Halifax, Cape Cod Pizza and Curtin Oil, and Card My Yard, the latter of which provided the giant sign.

Historical Tidbit:
South Halifax or Fullertown
| |
Fullertown, for many years, seems to have been somewhat apart from the rest of the town with rather distinctive boundaries. Fullertown stretched from the Winnetuxet River on the north, to the brook where the mill stood on the west and the Middleboro line on the south and east. It got its name from the names of the inhabitants, since aside from one or two exceptions they were all Fullers. They were descendants from Dr. Samuel Fuller of Mayflower fame and Rev. Samuel Fuller, the minister at the "Green."
Rev. Samuel had a large family and naturally they spread about. The first who settled in South Halifax was Ebenezer Fuller, who probably lived in a house which stood where the McCormick house now stands. The McCormick house was built about 1812, and Mr. Chipman Fuller was the last child born in the old house. This new house was occupied by Nathan Fuller and his wife Sarah, who was beloved by everyone in the community and town.
There were at least three branches of the original family located in Halifax, only one of which remained there for many generations. The others migrated to Brockton, where they became influential citizens of that city.
The land material was favorable for brick making. There were two brick kilns in the vicinity. One in back of McCormick's on the land of Isaac Porter Fuller and Ebenezer Fuller and the other near the mill brook. It is said that traces of the former may still be seen. Evidence of the work is found in the brick house formerly owned by Mr. Nelson Fuller, who conducted a singing school in town and also taught in Halifax Public Schools. He later moved to Brockton.

Halifax Man Reunites With Responders Who Saved His Life
In late July, the man in the center of this picture suffered a cardiac arrest. Due to the quick action of the members of the Halifax Fire Department, return of spontaneous circulation was obtained. He has since made a full recovery, and on Saturday, September 19, he reunited with the people who saved his life. Halifax Firefighters posted: " Another great example of teamwork and why every second matters!...This is the best possible outcome after suffering a cardiac arrest and we are very happy that he made a full recovery!"

Climate Can Do - Pack a Sustainable Lunch!
Looking for an easy way to make your lunch a little more sustainable? You may already have everything you need! Take a look in your refrigerator, freezer, or pantry.
Last night's leftovers can become today's lunch and a reusable container or water bottle can replace a disposable one. Get creative and give yesterday's dinner a lunchtime makeover by adding leftover vegetables to today's wrap or salad, or combining leftover chicken, rice, and vegetables to create a filling bowl. Using what you already have can help reduce food waste, save money, and make lunch a little more fun. For more ideas on preventing food waste at home, visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Dear Voter:
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, you will have the opportunity to make your voice heard. If you prefer to vote sooner, you can vote early or by mail. Early voting will be held October 17-30. On Election Day, all polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

| | | |
This year, there will be nine binding statewide ballot questions, the most that Massachusetts voters have ever been asked to consider. This official 2026 Information for Voters book contains information on all nine questions, including a summary of each proposal, the full text of the proposed/existing law, statements describing the effect of a yes or no vote, and brief arguments for and against each question.
The information in this book will assist you in making a thoughtful decision before you vote. With a longer ballot than usual, you may want to take notes and bring this book with you when you go to the polls.
The choices you make in this election will shape the course of government for our state, as well as local communities. I urge you to participate in this process, because your vote matters.
Very truly yours,
William Francis Galvin
Secretary of the Commonwealth

~ Martin Luther King Jr.
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”
~ Jimi Hendrix
“When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.” ~ Fred Rogers
“Peace is more than the absence of war. Peace is accord. Harmony.” ~ Laini Taylor

Peace, dear friends, is a worthy thing to work for. It is not lack of conflict, it is engaging in inner and outer work that will build bridges between our differences.
