Happenings - March 18, 2025

Frederick Douglass Program

Over the course of three mornings this week, over sixty 8th graders from Mt. Everett and W.E.B. Du Bois Middle School are gathering at the church to read together Frederick Douglass's 1852 famed speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July.”

Popping in on Tuesday, Pastor Jill observed Aretha Whitehead skillfully draw out insights and relevance from these thoughtful young people that challenge and inspire us in a world still struggling with systemic racism.

The students then broke out into one of three stations - writing, performance art or visual art - to engage the themes. Paul Mulholland led the performance art, Aretha led the visual art, and Alycia Bacon through Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation led the writing station. A display of their works will appear in the Old Stone Store in the weeks to come.

What a creative experiential morning of engaging history and current events at the same time.

Breakfast Church

Breakfast Church is now just a week from Sunday! Mark your calendars!

You won't want to miss this fun hour of worship and a celebration of spring while a delicious breakfast is shared at our one long table!

-9:00am-

On this Sunday as well, we look to generously support One Great Hour of Sharing during Breakfast Church, one of our five special UCC offerings. As food insecurity rises exponentially across the globe we spread our arms in support.

Orfelina works with families in Honduras to help them transform their communities through agriculture. Because of your giving, projects like these around the world are changing lives. Read more here.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is coming and plans for the Easter Egg Hunt are underway. Donations of individually wrapped small candy, stickers, etc. to be tucked into plastic eggs are now being received.

Donations can be left in a box in the church office on Sundays.

You are the Light

of the World!

The love we bring to the world through monetary gifts and our personal involvement serve to communicate a different message than many are hearing in the world today.

Gathering on Sunday for worship not only feeds the spirits of those who gather, but the financial gifts shared then flow out into the world as acts of love.

Together we communicate a message of welcome, inclusion and kindness.

You may also support our love in the world by using the donate button on our website! Or, mail your gifts to:
