Sheffield Farmers Market 25th Anniversary

The 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Sheffield Farmers Market is in the books! And was it ever fabulous and fun! Tractors, tractors everywhere! (Thank you farmers for sharing during such a busy season.) A large crowd enjoyed toe tapping music, fresh strawberry shortcake, ice cream sandwiches from Modern Milk Bar, community groups, and a plethora of vendors bringing fresh produce, flowers and joy to Sheffield.

We are thankful for Alex Dunn, Amelia Conklin, Cara Davis and Alicia Brazie who staffed our Pizza Oven! And we are grateful to Berkshire Mountain Bakery for their generous support of our 'Pizza by the Slice' at the Market!  What a wonderful gathering of community and caring neighbors.

Breakfast Church Choir

During last Sunday's Breakfast Church, our joy-filled, beautifully talented choir, and their likewise gifted director, ministered to those gathered at table worship as they have done each Sunday for the past ten months.

For the next two months, they shall rest and be refreshed. When you see them, thank them for their gifts of music and song.

And remember their invitation (see below), perhaps you might like to expand their numbers in September.

Special Notice to all Joyful Youth and Adults

Perhaps you’ve been sitting in the congregation, or on Zoom, listening to the choir, thinking, “That was beautiful, I wish I were singing with them.” Or maybe you were thinking, “If I were in the choir, I would suggest we sing something else.” Well, now is your chance. The choir is taking a break for the summer, and if you’ve been thinking of joining, for whatever reason, you have 2 months to pray on it.

As you may have noticed, our choir is awfully small for such a huge, God-loving, worshipful church. James 5:13 tells us, no, demands, that if we are happy, cheerful or feeling good in any way, we are to “sing songs of praise.” What better way to fulfill scripture than to sing with a group of your similarly joyful church friends.

We welcome all ages, from Middle School through forever. We practice at 9:00 a.m. Sundays before church. Please let Chelsea (chelsea.m.beatty@gmail.com) know if you’re interested.

Send Us Your Favorite Hymn

Coming on Sunday, July 13

During our morning worship! A lay-led hour of worship with a centerpiece of a long overdue Hymn Sing!

In preparation for that worship hour which we know you'll want to attend, please email the church office with your one or two favorite hymns by Monday, July 7. The hymns must belong to the public domain. If you include the lyrics typed out you receive an extra blessing :)

A booklet of submitted hymns (two verses per hymn) will be created and emailed to those receiving the Zoom link as well as available with the Sunday bulletin.

Thought for the Day

Here is Creation's sermon of the day:

Be like the lily. Let your joy rise up and be seen from wherever you find yourself!

Appalachian Trail Tent

Today’s AT Trail Magic hosts were from Canaan (NY) Congregational Church and Pittsfield United Church of Christ.

Below the group shot are the first hikers of the day - arriving before the hosts!

These fellas were retired hazardous material firefighters from New York, NY! One of them had begun his hike in the Florida Keys (yes he knew the trail doesn’t start there!) and the other was joining him for this section. Bless them.

Steeple Lighting

The Steeple is lighted for the month of July by Jim and Margie Larkin and family, in gratitude for the kindness and generosity of all those involved in Called to Care and Meal Train.

Future Steeple Lighting Sponsorships are available beginning in August. Later months are also available.

To claim a month, please email the church office with your request. It is a lovely way to honor a friend, an occasion, a memory or loved one.

Because of your generosity in giving, our shared ministries shine as lights in the world! Thank you. We're in this together!
