DAR Program

The First Resistance Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will make a presentation on the Sewn in America DAR Museum exhibit in the church sanctuary this Thursday, Feb. 5th from 2:00 to 2:30pm.

The speaker will be Denise Kindschi Gosselin, DAR Museum Corresponding Docent. Light refreshments will be served in the Community Room following the program.

The DAR Museum is a decorative arts museum located in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) headquarters in Washington, DC. Since the beginning of the NSDAR in 1890, the DAR Museum has collected, preserved, and interpreted furnishings, ceramics, glass, textiles, and household items that were made and used in America through the early 20th century. Through its collections, the museum inspires conversations about the diverse American experience, encouraging people to discover common ground.

The museum's Sewn In America exhibit celebrates the history and art of sewing. The presentation examines the way in which American women (and men) from the 18th and 19th centuries learned and used their sewing skills to furnish their households, earn livings, and express themselves - for necessity and fancy! And as they emigrated to our country, women brought their heritage, which they reflected in their work.

Souper Bowl Sunday

Souper Bowl Sunday is fast approaching. Yes, Souper Bowl Sunday! You are invited to bring to worship this Sunday, Feb. 8th, a donation of canned or boxed soup for our two food programs.

Winter is a great time for enjoying some steamy soup so why not make good use of such a Big Day and make a touchdown for our neighbors with a gift of nourishing soup!

You may also bring your donation this Thursday morning, Feb. 5th between 10am and noon; or Monday morning Feb. 9th, when a table will be set up in the hallway outside the office between 8:00am and 9:30am for folks to leave their donations. Go Team!

Valentine's Day Potter's Market

Local potter Harry Levenstein has organized a Potter's version of the Farmers Market at Dewey Hall on Valentine's Day, Saturday Feb. 14, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Mark your calendar! Pick up something special for your loved one - and yourself! Parking will be in the church parking lot.

Steeple Lighting

The Steeple is lighted for the month of February by Alice Leason in loving memory of her son Christopher.

Future Steeple Lighting Sponsorships are available beginning in April.

It is a lovely way to honor a friend, an occasion, a memory or loved one.

Thank you for your generosity in giving toward the ministries of this church. Love flows because of you!
