MESSAGE FROM THE CEO, Kevin Drumheller

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Welcome to our latest newsletter! I’m thrilled to connect with you as we continue our journey together. At Richcroft, we believe that happiness isn’t just a fleeting moment—it’s something we create, nurture, and share. Our theme, "Happiness Happens," reflects this belief and reminds us that joy can be found in the simplest of moments. Whether it’s a warm smile, a shared laugh, or the sense of accomplishment that comes from reaching a goal, happiness is all around us.

In this newsletter, you’ll find stories that highlight the spirit of the people we support, the programs we’ve developed to empower them, the events that bring us together, and the ways Richcroft is making a real difference in our community. Every day, we see firsthand how a little bit of happiness can lead to big changes, and we’re excited to share that with you.

Thank you for being a part of our community. Your support means the world to us and to those we support and serve.

Together, we’re making happiness happen—one moment at a time.

 All my best,

Kevin

Happiness Happens Month

is celebrated annually in August.

It is dedicated to celebrating things that make you happy.

It’s a known fact that happiness is contagious and sharing your happiness can bring a smile to someone’s face. The month reminds us that happiness can be found in even little things that we might not notice and that spreading the same joy amongst others can help make the world a better place.

Happiness is Happening...

Everyday at Richcroft!

Richcroft Happily Announces Our First Book Club!

The first meeting of Richcroft's new Book Club, attended by people in our Personal Supports Program, was a Big Success! Thank you to Abingdon's Panera Bread for being so welcoming, with a special thank you to shift manager Kristen for coming by to meet our group.

Next Chapter Book Club is our affiliate program.

Richcroft hopes to expand this club - creating 4 more community groups including our CDS and Residential Programs.

Shout out to Richcroft's Director of Personal Supports, Jessica Klein; Director of Community Day Services, Rachel Kollasch; and Case Manager, Anastasia Pyzik, for their wonderful work in making this vision of a Community Book Club come to life! As always, gratitude to our amazing DSPs who are helping to support and facilitate the groups.

Happiness at Camden Yards!

Can you imagine how exciting it is to attend your FIRST Baltimore Orioles game and see Jackson Holliday hit a fifth inning GRAND SLAM for his first career home run! This was Niko's first game, and he along with friends Victor, Matthew, Luke and Mike, (with the support of their amazing DSPs, Julie and LaTonya) witnessed history in the making at Oriole Park at Camden Yards! Shout out to our amazing staff who make days like this happen - and thank you to everyone who supports Richcroft for making Dreams Come True!

The men all said,

"This was the best day of their lives!"

Celebrating 30 Years of Service!

Bakari

Congratulations to Animashaun Bakari for the milestone achievement of 30 Years of Service at Richcroft!

Bakari - as he is known to all at Richcroft - started in Richcroft's Residential Program 30 years ago working part-time. After Bakari retired from his full time employment, he began working full time at Richcroft.

Bakari supports two men who receive residential supports, one of whom he has worked with for all of the 30 years! Bakari said he is happy working at Richcroft, that he loves helping people and enjoys working in a residential home setting.

Some of his favorite times and memories are of "agency gatherings, where everyone comes together at Richcroft!"

Happy to Have

Dr. Karyn Harvey at Richcroft!

Thank you to the exceptional Dr. Karyn Harvey, who presented a very informative training on the subject of Trauma Informed Care to the staff at Richcroft, Inc.

Dr. Karyn Harvey has worked as a clinician in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) for over 30 years. We are thankful for her expertise as we continue to recognize the role that trauma plays in behavioral issues of the people we support and serve.

Dr. Harvey has also collaborated with Richcroft, Inc. on the Hello, It's Me safe and virtual app, which addresses many issues people with IDD experience, including feelings of isolation and loneliness.

BUILDING COMMUNITY AND SHARING HAPPINESS!

Thank you to everyone who supported our restaurant fundraising night at the Texas Roadhouse on August 22. We enjoyed meeting so many new friends and seeing our staff and supported individuals sharing a delicious meal and spending time together.

Special thanks to the Texas Roadhouse staff for their warm hospitality and for donating 10% of the food sales from the evening!! (Total will be shared soon)

The winner of our Fall themed gift basket raffle was Theda Kontis. Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets. We sold over 100 tickets and raised $259 in the raffle alone.

Stay tuned for news on our next fundraising night. The main goal of these events is to increase awareness of Richcroft's mission, raise funds, and support our local community partners.
