2022 New Year's Resolution
by Rev. Cynthia A. Burns
This is the time of the year when many want to take the great leap into making a decision which they hope will change their lives and the year to come. They are talking about losing weight, saving money, being nicer, being bolder, being stronger to stand up for themselves. I’ve never been one to come up with resolutions like most of the world. It's been my experience that the resolution would be broken before the week ended.
So as I choose to reflect upon my life this past year of 2021 and the victories and opportunities I had, I also choose to focus on what the Word of God is saying about my new year of 2022. The Word of God doesn’t change! It’s not like that all of a sudden
God just started talking to me. The Word of God has always been talking to me; telling me I’m healed, I’m more than a conqueror, and I’m victorious. I do know for these traits to be in my life, I’ll need to make a dedicated decision to know the Word of God and choose to walk in the Word on a daily basis.
A life changed or a different path chosen is not a goal that is accomplished by running as fast as you can to the finish line. The goal is an accumulation of daily decisions based on Gods Word and arrived at step by step. The riddle about one eating an elephant, is always answered as one bite at a time. This is true for the new year. The dreams we hold and the goals we set will be fulfilled one bite (or, step) at a time. Just remember God has a plan for you and it is good.
'For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.' Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
