Have you ever noticed very few people make New Year’s resolutions to take better care of their eyes? Even though we’re 6 days into the new year, it’s not too late.

For starters, you can:

• Cut back on your screen time to reduce eye strain. If you can’t do that because of work, give your eyes a break when you get home before you look at your phone, TV or other device.

• Eat more vegetables - Leafy greens and vegetables like corn and broccoli can help reduce the risk of sight-stealing diseases like age-related macular degeneration.

• Wear protective eye gear – That means goggles when you play sports like basketball, soccer or tennis; and sunglasses for outdoor activities or when driving or cycling.

• Regular eye exams – One per year.

CPS Optix can certainly help with the third bullet point if you need prescription sportswear or sunglasses. If it’s been a while since you last went to the eye doctor, please take care of that as soon as possible and then we can help find you a pair of glasses that look great on you and have you seeing great in the new year.
