Art Ambassador Art Tour
to Los Angeles
Monday, October 3 -
Sunday, October 9, 2022

Uncover the multi-cultural universe of Los Angeles,
a city that now rivals New York's art world pre-eminence.

OVERVIEW
In 2021-2022, two major cultural institutions will change the direction of
LA's cultural scene, and we will be among the first
to visit them both.
The Academy Museum with its abundant stories of cinema, reflects LA as the
entertainment capital of the world. We will visit its shows, its restaurant, and take in some entertainment.

We will visit the long-awaited and highly-anticipated museum, The Cheech Marin Center for Arts & Culture, featuring Cheech's world-renowned collection of Chicago art.,

In addition, we will visit galleries, meet artists and see their studios,
and enjoy the sun-filled mix that makes up LA.

THE ITINERARY
GREATER LOS ANGELES
MONDAY- FRIDAY, OCT 3 - 7
We will visit LA's world class museums to see major exhibitions of contemporary art and the new feature shows at the Academy Museum.

Visits with artists will give us an up-close-and-personal window on the contemporary issues that artists are addressing in their work: the environment, social issues, and their multi-cultural approach to the world.
Our visits to galleries will deepen that inquiry.
THE WEEKEND in the INLAND EMPIRE
FRIDAY - SUNDAY, OCT 7- 9
The city of Riverside, part of the Inland Empire, has its own vibrancy, culture and focus on the artist. It is unveiling the new institution, The Cheech Center of Art and Culture, built to house the world-renowned Chicano art collection of entertainer Cheech Marin.
The museum opens this summer and we will be among the first to see it.
Cheech Marin has been collecting Chicano art since the 1980's. His collection both identifies and defines the art movement in the United States in the last 40 years.
Left: Painting by Carlos Almaraz. Chicano art is one of the identifiable art movements that is core to the growth of LA's art scene in recent decades.
