Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Easter lasts for 50 days. Do you know the saying, “As Sunday is to the week, Easter is to the year?” Those who configured the liturgical calendar were very clever. The season of Easter extends for 50 days, ending on Pentecost, hence the name. 50 days is roughly one-seventh of the 365 day year. In other words, Easter is the “Sunday” of the liturgical year.
The gospels of the season relate Jesus’ time on earth between the resurrection and the Ascension. We bask in the joyful news of redeemed life and revel in singing alleluias.
Easter Sunday’s celebration was amazing. The church was full, the music was super, the choir and brass were thrilling, the preaching was inspiring. Now, the choir is having a well-earned Thursday off. We’ll be there on Sunday to continue the joyous celebration. See you in church!
We wish you all a joyous celebration of Easter. Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
