Grant Road Coalition Phases 5/6
November 30, 5:30 pm
Ward 3 Community Room - 1510 E Grant Road
Join our Central Segments meeting focusing on Phase 5/6 Grant Road Expansion. Grant Road Coalition “Central Segments” represents the contiguous neighborhoods of the “Central Segments”, including Campbell/Grant Neighborhood, Catalina Vista Historic Neighborhood, Jefferson Park Historic District, Mountain/First Neighborhood, and SAMOS Neighborhood, advocating for community improvements supported by local agreements and national research. Participating in partnerships to repurpose remnants, create critical green space, provide research and secure funding.
We’ll advocate for things such as Noise Walls, Linear Parks - continuation of Health and Heritage Trail, expansion of Triangle Park, and also maintaining historic designation. Initially, we’ll meet monthly and perhaps more often as the Grant Road project progresses.

If you have questions or concerns, please direct them to:
Teresa Bravo, Sr. Government Relations Rep, Local Affairs & Tribal Liaison, TEP Email: teresa.bravo@uns.com

| | TEP - What is the bottom line? | |
Demolishing the maintenance facilities and a building the Vine Substation - Yes, they can do that legally.
Using their chosen route through our neighborhood and others - Yes, they can do that legally.
Overheading the lines through the neighborhood - There is currently a suit brought by individuals against the city for allowing the overhead lines in spite of the UA Area Plan that calls for undergrounding whenever possible. What happens to this very important part of the project remains to be seen.

Blenman-Elm will hold on a meeting November 12th, 7pm, at the Ward 6 office. Anyone interested can attend and support if possible. Stay tuned for more information.
NOTE: The E-mail provided in the last E-news, which stated that you could be listed as an interested party, initiated this response from PDSD:
"The City does not maintain a registry of interested parties for development projects. CCT projects require a public mailing to property owners within 400' of the site prior to formal plan submittal. No additional public notices or hearings are required. You can check the Tucson Property Research Online (PRO) website with the subject parcels or addresses at: https://pro.tucsonaz.gov/. Alerts for new actions or status changes are not available. Review comments are only available after a full review cycle closes. Plans are only available to the public after their approval."
| | Update on Jefferson Park Health and Heritage Trail | | |
The committee met with Adrian Jaramillo, Parks and Rec Supervisor to get updatres on the Park issues:
- In November the "Hit Squad", a group of Parks employees, will attempt to clean the area from Fremont to Santa Rita
- Additional Rocks will be added to certain locations
- Graffiti can be reported directly to Parks and Rec
- Lighting is pending review by capital planning department
| | | These signs ARE a Code Violation! | | |
"Code Enforcement is actively working on this issue, but they have asked for our partnership and patience as they have to prioritize their caseload based on immediate health and safety risks first.
Code Enforcement did not previously have the full list of impacted addresses, so thank you for providing that list. For the locations they did have on file, I understand that they have issued notices of violation. Further, because this involves an extensive list of properties with the same owner and substantially similar violations, they have added specific language to those notices stating that any other properties found with the same violation may be issued a citation without further warning." (Ward III) So continue reporting!

If you live in Jefferson Park, there should be no helicopters bound for Banner Hospital over your house. Jefferson Park has an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that all helicopters must enter and leave south of the hospital, unless there's a special emergency or weather factors dictate a change in the flight path.
Place this number in your phone and just call that number-it is quick and easy and helps inform Banner.
Call BUMC Security: 520-694-6533, just give location of helicopter-no need to give your name
