Executive Director's Message

"A New Year,

New Opportunities to Excel!"

I have always loved the weeks leading up to a new school year. A sense of renewal, summer projects being completed, the halls and buildings all shiny and ready to receive our students with new hopes, dreams, and expectations.

This is a time for our governance teams to put into motion both the short term and long terms goals it has established for the upcoming year.

It's also a renewed sense of purpose, turning the page from the previous year, building on past successes, and identifying where we have room for growth.

We know there is much work to be done going forward. We are living in transformative times with the roll out of New York Inspires and Portrait of a Graduate being implemented statewide. With changes will come challenges, challenges are also opportunities for strong governance teams to shine. We have much to be proud of for what has been accomplished in the past years. Let's use this as the foundation for the continued success for the future.

N-SSBA has had a busy summer working with our local boards and welcoming our newly elected members and planning our future events to help build your governance teams.

We are excited to announce that we will co-host with SCOPE Education Services the 1st annual Long Island Educational Leadership Summit, being held on 3/20/27 at the Hilton LI/Huntington in Melville. This half day professional development opportunity will be a great way for you and your governance team to grow together, so save the date!

As always, we are here as a resource to all of you and we wish you all the best on your openings!

Onward and upward to the 2026-2027 school year!
