St. Andrew's Episcopal Church eNews for June 10, 2021
Looking for a Summer of Purpose?
"The Journey to Racial Equity" is comprised of three parts: a webinar with Debby Irving, author of Waking Up White, on September 14; a 21-Day Challenge intended to go deeper into one's understanding of racial equity and build new habits (September 19 - October 10); and a webinar with Bishop William Barber, II, the president and senior lecturer of Repairers of the Breach on October 12.

Registration is now open at bit.ly/JourneytoRacialEquitySession3. With this single step, you will be registered for both webinars, and all webinar registrants will automatically receive the materials for the 21-Day Challenge.

Recordings of the webinars are not available to the public, so if this is of interest, please be sure to register. This is the last chance to take this special and impactful journey - don't miss it!
Welcome Back
Resources for Worship at Home
If you would like to borrow a copy of the Book of Common Prayer or the hymnal to use during Sunday worship at home, please stop by the office during Tuesday office hours, 10-2. If you need these books to be delivered to you, please contact Susan by email at parish@standrewsgso.org or by phone.

Join us for In-Person Worship
We are excited to have returned to indoor worship in the sanctuary, Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome. As we navigate this in-between time and adhere to diocesan protocols, worship will feel a bit different. For example, communion will be administered in one kind (bread only), our bulletins are online, and we will not pass the plate during the offertory. You do not need to register for worship and masked congregational singing is allowed.

We recognize that our parishioners are moving out of the pandemic at different speeds for a variety of reasons. We are especially cognizant that our valued children are not yet eligible for the vaccine. We will provide space in the sanctuary for those who prefer to remain masked and socially distanced by pod at this time. There will be a communion station available in this space. To welcome back our families in June, children will be invited to process outside at the start of the service to play and hear a special story, with return to the sanctuary for communion. We will not have a nursery at this time. All unvaccinated persons are asked to continue to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

This is a time of great joy as we regather for worship and prayer. We are learning together as we move into this new season together. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Renewing our Ministry to Families and Children
As we return to in person worship, we are re-imagining how best to engage families and children. There will be a space in the service reserved for all who want to continue to limit physical contact, socially distance, and wear masks. Communion will be brought to this space. Children will be invited at the start of the service to process out the back of the church for outdoor playground time and a story on Sunday mornings, with a return for communion. There will also be worship bags available each Sunday for children who enjoy keeping their hands busy. At this time, we plan to have a “back to school blessing” in August and to return to Godly Play and full programs for children and youth in the fall.
Sunday Services will be Livestreamed
During this time, we have learned the value of connecting across time and space through online worship. Our Sunday morning service will be livestreamed on St. Andrew’s YouTube channel on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and will be available for later viewing. This is a great option if you are traveling or not yet ready to return to in-person worship. Parish Meetings on Campus Return
Our church campus is reopening to parish groups and committees to meet in the parish hall. It will be up to each group’s leader to ascertain the vaccination status of your group to determine what protocols will fit your people best. We plan to reopen to our community partners in August. If your bible study or small group would like to meet on campus again, please contact Susan Frye at parish@standrewsgso.org.

Bring a Bag and Take a Bag
The Outreach Committee is pleased to announce that it will resume regular collection of canned goods and nonperishable food items at St. Andrew’s beginning this Sunday, June 13th.

Each Sunday when you attend the in-person service, please take a burgundy bag from the Narthex. The following week, return the bag with items you are donating, and take another burgundy bag to fill that week.

If you would like to drop off a food donation but will not be attending in-person worship, please contact Doug Sanecki at dpsanecki@gmail.com to coordinate. You may also bring donations to the church during parish office hours on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We will resume full, onsite distribution to One Step Further Food Pantry, our partner agency, each week going forward. Thank you for remembering to "Bring a Bag and Take a Bag" each week.
We Need You Now
We are so thrilled to worship together again, but this isn't the end of our online worship! We will still be broadcasting every week, and we need volunteers to help make that happen. Volunteers will be given training on how to operate the A/V equipment and will be a vital part of making our worship accessible to as many of God's people as possible. If you are at all interested, contact Robin Hardman at robin@standrewsgso.org. Thank you for your help in spreading the life of St. Andrew's far and wide.
