FEBRUARY 2021
Introducing the
Redesigned Bluff Heights Website
The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association website has been revised and updated! The site is full of images of the neighborhood and contains a lot of useful information for everyone living in Bluff Heights, or planning a visit. The new design is much more contemporary and user-friendly. The Board has plans to add features and content as we move forward. So, take a few minutes and get acquainted with your new neighborhood website: www.bluffheights.org.
Long Beach Artist George Kyle Is Following His Bliss

Joseph Campbell said that if you follow your bliss, you’ll be on the track that has been waiting for you. For George Kyle, that bliss was education and art, both woven into his life from childhood to now.
Books Set In Long Beach

Many people’s New Year’s resolutions include reading more books, and with the pandemic still keeping a lot of us at home, there’s no better time to dig into your reading list!

Cara Cara: My Search for Sweet Winter Fruit

From 1971 to 1989 I served as the pastor of Geneva Presbyterian Church at 3rd and Molino (now the Cambodian Buddhist Temple). In 1989 I moved into a “second career” as the manager of the Harbor Area Farmers’ Markets, sponsored by what is now the South Coast Interfaith Council.
“Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Farmer’s Truck for Me…”

I know the actual lyric is “a pirate’s life for me,” but not if you see longtime Bluff Heights residents and musicians Ray and Diane donning pirate costumes in their 1947 Studebaker M5 truck.
Covid-19 Vaccine Q&A
The following are answers to questions I encountered as a registered pharmacist giving mRNA vaccines. Please note that answers are based on evidence from the medical literature including clinical trials, the vaccine manufacturer’s package labeling, and medical expert opinion. Follow up with your healthcare provider with any specific concerns you may have.
