TGIF!
Yesterday on St Croix was Contract Day. On October 1, 1878, workers gathered in Frederiksted, in front of Fort Frederik, and rose up. Fire spread across the west end of the island, and the uprising became known as the π₯Fireburn. You can learn more about this important date in St Croix history over on MyStCroix.VI - click here.
October tends to move slower on the island. You feel the heat a little more because the trade winds die down and the humidity settles in. But, relief is just around the corner when they start to blow again at the end of the month into November. And, here on the island, we love a good theme party ... so the month ends with a bang and plenty of Halloween partiesπββ¬π¬π ready to roll us right into the festive season.
If you're here with us on St Croix this month, be sure to get out there and support the local restaurants and artists that keep us going and our feet tapping all year long.
