Special Worship Service this Sunday at 10

All are invited to worship each Sunday at 10 a.m. Masks are required for all in attendance, and we continue to offer our worship online with a livestream of Sunday’s service.

This Sunday, Nov. 21, our service will use a special liturgy offered by our diocese to help us remember and be touched by the promises that remain constant even in times of uncertainty and loss: the loving presence of God, the gift we have been given in one another, and the opportunities and possibilities that emerge even in times of challenge, struggle, and loss. Join us in worship!
We're Hiring:
Nursery Staff Needed

We look forward to offering nursery care every Sunday in the near future. To that end, St. Andrew's is seeking a loving, capable childcare professional, age 18 years or older, to staff our nursery on Sunday mornings during our 10 a.m. weekly worship service. The commitment is for Sundays, 9:30–11:30 a.m., and we offer a competitive $18 hourly rate. Please contact Susan Frye, Parish Administrator, at parish@standrewsgso.org or 336-275-1651, ext. 1, with references or to inquire.

Las Posadas
An Opportunity to Welcome the Holy Family throughout All of Advent

This year, St. Andrew’s will again embrace the tradition of Las Posadas. On Advent nights, a carved holy family will travel from parish household to parish household, recreating Mary and Joseph’s search for a place to stay as they traveled to Bethlehem. The requirements are simple: be willing to open your home to the holy family, care for them for 48 hours, and deliver them to the next household. Mary, Joseph, and the donkey travel in a basket with the book The Night of Las Posadas, a candle, prayers, and a journal to record the holy family’s activities. Families, parents, and children can plan and prepare where they will house the holy family, talk about what they might need, and reflect on the meaning of the season of Advent. For older parishioners, it is a tangible reminder of what we let go of and surrender to make space for Jesus to be born anew. This is an opportunity to practice hospitality and anticipate Christ’s birth. Want to sign up for a night? Look for the signup genius in Monday’s Special Advent Edition of eNews.
All Hands on Deck!
Our Holiday Photo Spot is open for business! Check out your holiday photo “booth” on the Kensington Avenue side of the church campus! Bring your pooch, kids, partner–and don’t forget the camera. It’s the perfect place to take your holiday photo and then, when you post it to social media, don’t forget to include an invitation to Deck the Halls, December 4th, from 10 to 3, here at St. Andrew’s. Help us spread the word while adding to your holiday memories.
Thank you for the quick response to our request for Deck the Halls donations. We are still accepting your contributions of wine, ladies accessories (by Nov. 20th, please contact Betty Atwell) and your arts and crafts (contact Lynda Sanecki for details). And bakers, bring your baked goods donations to the Parish Hall on December 3rd or by pre-arrangement with Nancy Rizzuto.

Wreaths, arrangements, poinsettias, and gingerbread house kits are being sold on a pre-sale basis. Order deadline is November 27th. There will be very few available on December 4th if you haven’t already placed your order, so don’t miss out. Our Green Apron volunteers will be outside after church services on Sunday to take your orders!
St. Andrew's Prepares for Afghan Refugees

St. Andrew’s is joining with St. Francis Episcopal Church and with Church World Services to support an Afghan family in their upcoming resettlement process in Greensboro. The Mission and Outreach Committee has an initial budget of $5,000 to support at least one family’s housing needs for 5-6 months. Additionally, each St. Andrew’s interest group (choir, youth, vestry, etc.) will help by adopting a particular form of support for the family, such as household items or food. There will be other ways to help that involve some advance training, such as transportation assistance and educational outreach. If you would like to help in any of these ways or have questions, please contact Doug Sanecki at dpsanecki@gmail.com
Angel Tree Gifts Collected through December 7th

St. Andrew's is joining with Hope for the Holidays, an annual gift drive for children in foster care, sponsored by the Children's Home Society. For many years we have engaged in this ministry in conjunction with our celebration of St. Nicholas, who blesses the gifts we send off for these children.

Please use this SignUp Genius link to sign up to provide a gift: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080A48ABA72BAB9-hope.
We ask that unwrapped presents be delivered to the church by December 7th. Thank you in advance for your generosity and for helping to provide a joyful holiday season to children in need.
Please contact AmyRuth McGraw (amyruthmcgraw@gmail.com) if you have questions.

Note: If there are no more spots on the signup genius, please don't hesitate to bring a present. All gifts beyond what is needed for Hope for the Holidays will be given to other agencies helping families in need.
Christmas Flower Dedications

Each Advent and Lent, the Altar Guild places donation envelopes in the pews providing parishioners the opportunity to make a donation expressly for the Altar Guild. These donations help cover the costs of special services and “day-to-day” altar requirements. If you are participating through the online service and would like to make a donation, simply mail your check to St. Andrews with a short note supplying the following information:

This donation for the Altar Guild is given by ________________
in memory of ______________ OR in honor of _______________.

Your contribution will be credited to the Altar Guild and will be acknowledged in the Christmas Eve Bulletin. There is not a "charge" or set amount. Your donation and dedication need to be received by the church office by December 12th in order for our Parish Administrator to create the bulletin. Thank you for your support!
