Join Us for Worship
Sundays at 10 a.m.
In-Person and Online

Everyone is welcome. Masks are required for all in attendance. We will continue to offer worship online with a livestream of Sunday’s service.
This Sunday, we welcome the Rev. Hunter Silides as our guest celebrant and preacher. Hunter was priested in 1993 and served as Chaplain at The Cathedral School for Boys and on the staff of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco for five years. She and her husband, the Rev. George Silides, served in the Arctic, in the Interior of Alaska, and in Juneau, Alaska. They are the parents of four children. Hunter also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English from the University of Alaska. She is beginning her fifth year as Chaplain at Canterbury School.

Rector Update

Rev. Ginny Inman had surgery recently and is out of the office as she rests and heals. We look forward to Rev. Ginny’s return to worship next Sunday, September 12. Meanwhile, we are grateful to our wonderful local clergy who are preaching and leading Sunday services. Our senior wardens, Marion Seaman and Sandy Shelton, are available to answer questions or address concerns. For pastoral concerns, please contact Debbie Dowd. Please continue to keep Rev. Ginny and her family in your prayers. If you are interested in ways to support the Inman family, please contact Fran Swan at francinemq53@gmail.com or 336-709-5147 (phone or text) to inquire.
"Be Doers of the Word" – A New Sermon Series on James Begins September 12!

The opening chapter of James encourages us to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” What does faith look like in action? Join us for a sermon series on the Epistle of James, which focuses on practical spirituality, as we explore how to put our faith to work in community.
School Supply Drive is a Success

Thank you to all those who participated in our first Celebration Sunday on August 29, and to all who contributed supplies and their time and love to the school supply drive for Lindley Elementary School. On Monday, St. Andrew’s delivered three huge boxes overflowing with school supplies to Lindley. Along with the supplies for students were handwritten notes, each bearing a KIND granola bar, for all 67 Lindley teachers and staff members. The school was very appreciative of the surprise gift.
Children and Youth Ministries Start this Month

This fall we're committed to listening to and supporting our families safely. Beginning September 12, we will offer Children’s Ministry Sundays during 10 a.m. worship. PreK through 5th grade will be invited to process outside (weather permitting) for a story, community building, and play, and then return to their families for communion. There will also be children’s bulletins and activity bags. Nursery is available weekly by request (please read Nursery Note, below). Our Episcopal Youth Community, or EYC, will kick off on September 26. And we are launching special Celebration Sundays, featuring family-friendly worship and a service activity after church for children of all ages!
Nursery Note!

Beginning September 12, nursery is available weekly by request. Please send your request, by Tuesday for the coming Sunday, to Susan in the parish office, at parishsta@gmail.com or 336-275-1651, ext. 1.

Fall Formation at St. Andrew’s

Throughout the summer, St. Andrew’s was hard at work planning fall ministry activities, but the recent surge in COVID cases has caused us to reevaluate how to start these parish activities safely. We will continue to gather for masked, in-person worship, but are pushing back fall start dates on some ministries. We have altered our Sunday morning children’s ministry so we can gather outside and will begin EYC in late September. This year, we have added Celebration Sundays (see above). On these special days in our liturgical calendar, we will celebrate our life together in God by focusing on intergenerational worship and service.

Our adult formation offerings are grounded in small groups. We have a number of ways you can grow in faith this fall. Please see our mid-week offerings below. Look for additional ways to engage as disciples of Christ in feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, and being transformed by God in the weeks to come. Walk in love.

How You Can Help after Hurricane Ida

On Sunday, August 29, sixteen years after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, Hurricane Ida made landfall in the same region. This Category 4 storm brought flooding and damaging winds that caused a loss of water to hundreds of thousands and a loss of electricity to over one million people. Episcopal Relief & Development is working closely with the Diocese of Louisiana and other regional partners in what will be a long-term response. Your generous gift will help alleviate suffering for the most vulnerable residents impacted by Hurricane Ida. Please visit episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief to make a gift today.
