Last week I had coffee with Susan who was at her cottage near Bancroft - so we decided to meet up. While chatting I mentioned that since I have met her (only 3 years ago) she has made and given away dozens of quilts! She mentioned that her stash was growing - but it was also hard to remember what quilts she had made over time - which got me to thinking about remembering the quilts I had made and given away.
I have often thought it would be a great idea to take a few of the fabrics from each quilt I make and make a small 6 to 8 inch square - maybe a nine patch - of the fabrics I use in each quilt I make.
And then I remembered the quilt I had seen called "Omigosh".
It was made of very small squares - but if you make one or two squares out of the remnants of each quilt you make - over time you can create a quilt like Sue Garman's "Omigosh". (You can buy the pattern here)
It would be your very own "Quilt Memory" quilt - a little sample of each quilt you have made in a very large quilt!
If you make a quilts to give away - to Children, friends, grandchildren, lovers, or even to outreach programs, this is a great way to have a memory of every quilt you have ever made. It's pretty easy once you have finished a quilt to "make just one square". Over time you will have gathered enough squares to make quilt like "Omigosh".
A quilt like that might seem like an overwhelming project - but not if you do it one bite at a time!
(that's how you eat an elephant BTW!)
