March 25: 3 Authors Visit for Arizona Trippin'
Pam Hait of Paradise Valley returns to Sibley's West on March 25. Here is a photo from last year with State Historian Marshall Trimble.
Our month of celebrating traveling around Arizona concludes Saturday, March 25, with three special guests and a children's activity.

From 11 am to 1 pm, we host authors Pam Hait and Bruce Grubbs.
Pam wrote "Day Trips: Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff" and the 2017 edition was recently published.
It is a great book to consult when you have a free day or afternoon and little time to plan.
Bruce has visited Sibley's West before and is the author of the hiking book,  "Creaky Knees Guide: Arizona."
He is knowledgeable about all sorts of Arizona destinations and enjoys meeting visitors to the state as a tour plane pilot.

At 1 pm , we are very excited to welcome author Christy Karras , who actually lives in Seattle but is coming to Arizona to get some sunshine.
She and Stephen Zusy wrote the book, "Motorcycle Touring in the Southwest: The Region's Best Rides."
Her talk, "Tales from the Road," will feature a slideshow of images from her travels, outtakes that you won't see in print, and stories of life on the road.

This is a photo of author Christy Karras after a ride to Tortilla Flats.

She'll answer questions about her books and chat with readers. She may also wax philosophical about what all of our journeys -- via motorcycle or otherwise -- have to teach us.
Christy has been a professional travel writer for 10 years, writing for clients ranging from the Alaska Airlines magazine to the London Sunday Times.
She is the author or co-author of seven books, including  "Touring in the Pacific Northwest,"  " More than Petticoats: Remarkable Utah Women ," and " Scenic Driving: Utah ."
She has also been a magazine and website editor, including a stint as the assistant editor for Yahoo Travel. She is a regular contributor to the  Seattle Times travel section .
She frequently writes stories that combine adventure with creature comforts including good food and beer. When she's not on the road, she loves relaxing or recreating with her husband and frequent travel partner, Bill.

Some guests trying sand art during a recent visitfrom ArtiSands.

Also at  1 pm , we will have a visit by ArtiSands,  the Maricopa company that produces sand-art projects. Families are invited to give a project a try -- using colored sands and designs with adhesives.

Downtown Spotlight: Burst of Butterflies Art Studio
Owner Cheryl Tisland has created a wide range of art activities for after-school, weekends, breaks and the summer.
Whenever we get a young person who is interested in art at Sibley's West, we like to say that someday they might have items in our gift shop.
And if they have that dream, they should stop by our neighbor on Boston Street, Burst of Butterflies.
Whether it's a single project or a desire to take a class, Cheryl and her team can offer instructions on all sorts of media -- glass, ceramics, painting, soap- and candle-making, and tiling.
There are events, classes, parties and camps -- all with the goal of introducing individuals to different forms of art and ways they can design and produce art that reflects their personality.
Spring break is a great time to stop by and learn more about Burst of Butterflies, which also has terrific camps in July.
The art studio is on Boston Street, just west of Vintage 95 and the Religion Store, and next to the future cigar bar under construction.
It's also next to Sammies -- so you can get an ice cream sandwich after your project!
Odds and Ends
