Honoring Our Heroes
2025 Veterans Home Repair Blitz
| | |
To commemorate Veterans Day, Habitat LA is joining forces with our sponsors, City National Bank, The LA Rams and The Home Depot along with a vibrant group of volunteers to deliver essential home repairs for two local veterans. Scheduled for October 28–November 1, these transformative projects are part of our Habitat for Heroes initiative, aimed at supporting veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families. United in purpose, we are committed to ensuring more veterans have the comfort and security of a home they can proudly call their own.
This year’s Veterans Blitz will serve:
Geraldine N. – Inglewood
Geraldine is the proud widow of Larry Luther Norris, a devoted husband, father, and U.S. Marine Corps veteran whose legacy continues to inspire his family. Larry served honorably as a U.S. Marine, including a tour in Vietnam, and earned the Good Conduct Medal in 1965.
Donald C. II – Compton
A proud Compton native and U.S. Navy veteran, Donald II has dedicated his life to service, community, and craftsmanship. After serving aboard the USS Independence in Japan, Donald returned home to open Barberizm, a community-centered barbershop that provides mentorship and support to local youth, veterans, and families.
Together, we build a better future for veterans.

LA Clippers Join Habitat LA to Rebuild Hope After the Wildfires
Supporting Wildfire Survivors
| | |
On October 11, the LA Clippers teamed up with Comcast NBCUniversal, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, and San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity for a powerful day of service supporting families impacted by the devastating Los Angeles County wildfires.
Hosted at the Kia Forum, this inaugural frame build marked the start of a transformative community initiative that will span the next year—working toward the goal of helping 100 families. More than 200 volunteers, along with the entire Clippers roster, rolled up their sleeves to build walls that will soon become the foundation for hope, healing, and new beginnings.
From Inglewood to the San Gabriel Valley, the partnership embodies Habitat LA’s ongoing ReBUILD LA efforts—ensuring wildfire-affected families have the chance to recover, rebuild, and thrive.

Building Hope in Lancaster
Cedar Avenue Development Nears the Finish Line
| |
There’s a buzz of excitement in Lancaster as our Cedar Avenue Development enters its final stretch! What was once a vacant lot is now transforming into two beautiful, energy-efficient Habitat LA homes.
Thanks to the hard work of our construction crews, homeowners, and partners, the site is coming alive with the finishing touches that make a house a home. All homes are approaching completion. Inside, the teams are preparing for final inspections.
Outside, the landscape is taking shape beautifully—drought tolerant desert friendly yards and walkways are nearly complete, and the porch columns and handrails are getting their final polish.
In the next few weeks, the team will be putting the finishing touches on each home—bringing us one step closer to welcoming two more new homeowners in Lancaster.

Habitat LA Brings Affordable Homeownership to the Heart of Crenshaw
Habitat LA at Taste of Soul
| |
For the third year, Habitat LA proudly sponsored Taste of Soul, Los Angeles’ largest family festival celebrating Black culture and community. Held along the historic Crenshaw Boulevard, this free event drew more than 350,000 attendees.
Habitat LA staff and homebuyers were on-site, connecting with hundreds of community members to share information about our affordable homeownership and repair programs, homebuyer education and counseling, and the ReStore. It was a powerful day of outreach and inspiration.
Special thanks to our incredible volunteers and homeowners who helped make this event such a success. Your passion and energy continue to inspire us every day.

Honoring a Legacy
The 2025 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project
| | |
This week, Habitat for Humanity affiliates and volunteers from around the world are gathering in Austin, Texas, for a truly historic event — the first Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project since President Jimmy Carter’s passing.
Hosted at Whisper Valley, a groundbreaking sustainable “naturehood” in eastern Travis County, the 2025 Carter Work Project will bring together thousands of volunteers to build 25 affordable, energy-efficient homes. These homes are designed to help families save on energy costs while showcasing how thoughtful, eco-friendly design can create long-term affordability and a healthier planet.
This year also marks the first-ever Rural Rally, a nationwide effort to spotlight the urgent need for affordable housing in rural America. As construction begins in Whisper Valley, we honor President and Mrs. Carter’s unwavering belief that everyone deserves a decent place to call home. Their legacy lives on in every wall raised, every volunteer’s hand extended, and every family welcomed home.
