So many men, women and even children love a good scare. I for one can go without. I am actively afraid of my own shadow so I require no extra help in the spooky department let alone the scary as h-e- double-hockey-sticks arena! Shiver-Shudder. No thank you.

What I will say thank you to is the abundance of bite sized candy that will infiltrate my house in the next 24 hours. It's a blessing and a curse really. One of my favorite smells is the scent of jumbled sugary treats and cellophane wafting from a smiling jack-o-lantern bucket! One of my least favorite self-discipline exercises is not eating the entire bucket of comingled goodies. Gosh, I am so excited!

This year the masses are projected to spend $11.6 billion on Halloween. If you've contributed to the Halloween spending this year have I got a tip for you! Tomorrow after you've tricked and treated around town head over to the Elkhorn Park and Rec Department to Feast with the Beast! This new annual tradition is a great way to save a few pennies and enjoy a FREE meal with friends and family and the legendary Beast of Bray Road!

Halloween continues to be an opportunity to make memories and enjoy the fall season. Regardless of what side of the door you might find yourself on, a trick-or-treater or a candy distribution center, I certainly hope you enjoy the festivities and the fresh haul of candy.

Southern Lakes Newspapers LLC (publisher of the Burlington Standard Press) and affiliated companies is looking for a skilled Office Manager to lead and supervise all aspects of the business department located in Delavan, Wis. This is a full-time position, minimum 35 hours, no nights or weekends. You will be in charge of managing all day-to-day operations in the business department and directly supervising 3-4 employees.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Manage banking accounts

• Quarterly and annual duties for tax filings and census reporting

• 401K and HR administration duties

• Oversee payroll for 3 companies

• Recruiting and training new employees

• Miscellaneous department management duties

Requirements:

• Proficient in QuickBooks

• At least 3 years' experience in a management position

• Outstanding leadership abilities
