Happy Thanksgiving! We pray this month’s newsletter finds you all well. On this Thanksgiving day, we hope you’re enjoying family, good food, and giving thanks to the Lord for all He has done.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

(Psalm 136:1)

The Ohaneson’s are thankful for a month filled with Blessing Bags events, foster care meetings, and packing/donating the rest of their belongings (excluding the furniture, which will be donated in December.) Jennifer had the privilege of being the guest speaker at the Fall Retreat in Bedford, Virginia for the women’s ministry of Winns Baptist Church. This year, their conference topic was Strength for Today, Faith for Tomorrow: Finding your purpose in every season. Jennifer was able to use many current circumstances to share what God is doing in her family’s personal life and ministry.

During the retreat, the women had the opportunity to make acts of kindness Blessing Bags to take home and bless others in their community. Acts of kindness bags are a great way to share God’s love with anyone, such as your mail carrier, trash man, bus driver, and anyone else God puts on your heart!

We are thankful for this season of complete reliance on God, waiting on His perfect timing and provision throughout this new season of our lives.

“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

While sitting at a red light in Manassas earlier this month, Jennifer rolled down the window to speak to a man on the corner, holding a sign asking for help. She asked if he could use a care package, which she had made at one of the recent Blessing Bags events. He smiled, excitedly saying that he would love one. He told Jennifer that he refers to these as Blessing Bags. (That sounds familiar. LOL) Since this stoplight was at a very busy intersection, they were able to talk for at least three minutes. Jennifer and Kenny (the man who was homeless) shook hands and introduce themselves. After receiving the Blessing Bag and all the coins in Jennifer’s vehicle, the man informed Jennifer that he would be praying for her, indicating he prays for every person who blesses him. He explained, “You never know what a person is going through. For me, I’m fine. I’m just homeless. So many people have it much worse.”

What an unbelievable outlook on life! In the difficult seasons of life, I pray our attitudes and outlooks would reflect such hope and compassion.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

(Philippians 2:3)
