Finishing Strong
Greetings!

“Be convinced of what St. Paul says, that you plant and water the seed, but it is God through Jesus Christ who makes it grow, that he is the one who brings your work to fulfilment.”
- St. John Baptist De la Salle – Meditation 196.1

Once again as I write this note, I hope and pray that all of you and your families, friends and loved ones are well and safe! Each time our school gathers for our daily assembly, we lift each of you in prayer and ask God to watch over and bless each one of you.

Preparing for the end of any school year can be very challenging. There are many plans to put in place, celebrations to be had and final touches to complete the academic program before the close of the school year. Those plans are well under way as we begin to wind down and prepare for the end of the 2022-2023 academic year and the start of summer vacation. As plans emerge and develop to celebrate the academic accomplishments of all our students, we also take the time to recognize the extraordinary success of the class of 2023, our 18th graduation class.

As we conclude the 2022-2023 academic year, I am also making plans for my own “graduation;” that is, my retirement. I am most grateful for the many notes of care and gratitude that so many have expressed since I announced my retirement plans, as well as the outpouring of affection for our mission and the young men entrusted to our care. Your continued generosity and affection for our school and mission give me great HOPE and faith in future success for this incredible mission that we call The De La Salle School. The young men who have graced and blessed our halls are the emerging face of America and represent a new generation of Lasallian leaders striving for a standard of academic excellence, morals and values that have been so much a part of our vision and history here on Long Island. The Lasallian legacy continues as the vision for our mission continues to grow and evolve because you have helped us plant and water the seed. With your continued support, I am confident that my successor Mrs. Elder, our principal Mrs. Becker along with the outstanding faculty and staff will carefully guide our students to become great stewards of our church and country.

If you have recently contributed to our school and mission, THANK YOU. If you have not had an opportunity to contribute, please consider doing so prior to the end of the year. No gift is too small. We are always grateful for your support of our mission as we provide a quality Lasallian Catholic education to the young men whom God has asked us to care for. The seed has been planted.
