Dear friends and colleagues,
In this issue you can read about a Waldorf kindergarten in the Dominican Republic which is free of charge for all those who cannot afford to pay tuition, about Early Childhood educators in Indonesia who are organizing public events on the importance of grandparents, about the Waldorf kindergarten curriculum which has now been approved by the Russian government, and about outreach and deepening of the ideals of Waldorf education as the 100 year celebration of the first Waldorf school approaches in 2019.

Also: please don't forget to have a look on the impressive list of study material that the IASWECE Birth to Three Working Group has gathered as study preparation for regional conferences on "Sleep".

In addition to the many outreach projects you can find here, the International Forum and the Council of IASWECE would also like to encourage teachers and parents responsible for Waldorf institutions to work intensively with the question: What is Waldorf pedagogy?

Those who ask this question and expect to get a package of recipes and methods, as well as a suitcase full of "Waldorf materials," are always disappointed.

Henning Kullak-Ublick, the coordinator of the Waldorf 100 celebrations, writes: "Waldorf education is much less bound to traditional forms than to the shared pedagogical ethos that always arises anew from working with the evolving human being."
