The new 21-day journey
GLORIFY
begins Saturday, February 1st!

Dear Praying Friend -

The Lord provided a wonderful feast to satisfy our soul's hunger in January as we inaugurated the Year of Divine Government and prepared our heart for a month-by- month journey to restore and renew our vision in 2020. Our prayer for the Lord to, "Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love!" (Psalm 90:14), was richly rewarded as He fed us with savory reminders of His great love and goodness during the twelve days of our "Satisfy" journey, confirming through Solomon's message in Ecclesiastes what the Lord had already written on our hearts when we first trusted Him as Savior: that life is indeed worth living, if I am living in proper relationship with God. We benefit from Solomon's 20/20 vision as his conclusion on the whole matter is the bright light which the Lord desires His children to walk by to experience a satisfying, meaningful, purposeful, and abundant life with Him: "Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all" (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

That light continues to grow even brighter as we turn the calendar to begin a new month and turn the pages of God's Word to open up the Book of John and begin the next leg in our series of "IF I" journeys - Glorify! W e may need to adjust our eyes to the brilliance of the light that pours forth from the pages of the Word of God as the Lord illuminates our understanding further with the knowledge of the One who is "the true Light which gives light to every man" (John 1:9). One of the key truths we learned in our journey through Ecclesiastes is that it is one thing to possess the gifts that God gives us, but we can never truly enjoy those gifts and use them as God purposes without possessing the power that God supplies. This month as we travel through the book of John our eyes will be opened to deeper understanding of the Source and blessing of that power.

"The lamp of the body is the eye.
If therefore your eye is good,
your whole body will be full of light."
(Matthew 6:22)

Life is God's gift to us and He wants us to enjoy it and use it for His glory, but as we discovered in our journey with Solomon, a life without God is a life without answers to prayer; sadly, it is a life without miracles. John will show us that when God broke into history at just the right time the world began to blossom and bloom with expectation and renewed life (and miracles!) - and it has been blooming in the hearts of believers ever since! The world holds nothing new for us - only God can make all things new - only God can satisfy a hungry soul! As we travel through the gospel of John, our heavenly Father wants us to fix our eyes on Jesus, His beloved Son, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and allow Him to anoint our eyes with the healing salve of His Word, so we can see the path before us more clearly (Revelation 3:18). Our vision is easily clouded by the present troubles and evils in this world, and for many their view of God has become distorted and corrupted. How gracious the Lord is to invite us to have our vision restored and our eyes opened to see all the beauty of the life He has given us in Christ Jesus. May His Word continue to be the light by which we walk by (Psalm 119:105), so that we can grow in holiness and become a whole and healthy Body. May we seek to make the most of the life that the Lord has given to us as His gift by investing it to the glory of God, so that Christ Jesus will become more visible in our lives and others will see Him as we do. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

The kingdom of God is within us - His Holy Spirit dwells within us - let us submit to His rule and reign this year and cultivate the inner life so that we can truly enjoy the life He has given us and use it to His glory and for the advancement of His kingdom in this world. Beloved, we have been given a glorious kingdom to steward, let us be found faithful to the task, yielding to the life of the Holy Spirit within, so we will reap the rich spiritual benefits of the kingdom, and not waste any time striving for things from a world that will never satisfy. If you want to start a running program this year - run with fervency to God! If you want a new exercise program - exercise those dormant and weakened spiritual muscles with prayer and fasting! If you want a healthier diet - eat the all-sufficient, all-sustaining, nourishing, fulfilling, strengthening and healing Word of God every day! There is no greater gift you can give to your own body, to the Body of Christ, and for the honor of God, than to "offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:2). Let us commit to walking in the light each and every day as He is in the light (1 John 1:7)! He has prepared for us a well-traveled path. Let us walk with our eyes, our ears, our minds, our hearts, and our hands wide open to receive all that the Lord has for us - for He gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17)!

As we continue to feast on the Word of God each day may our appetite be transformed to a consuming desire to hold fast to Jesus as He takes us to new heights of spiritual life and power in His Word and as the Holy Spirit leads us to deeper spiritual truths and breathes His life afresh on us! It is a joy to walk this path with you! Let us offer a prayer of praise as we begin our journey! "Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together" (Psalm 34:3).

"The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make His face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you;
the LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
and give you peace."
~ Numbers 6:24-26
