*If applicable, please ensure that your SEC certificate is added to your MyIRC account as a separate 'boat'. This allows you to revalidate the SEC certificate and apply for amendments or trials during the year. If you have any problems adding it, please contact the Rating Office. We will only issue a SEC certificate once the boat holds a current valid primary certificate.

IRC rating formulation changes

This document outlines the main formulation developments for this year and has been produced to help owners understand changes to IRC ratings.

Important World Sailing Storm Jib rule changes.

In summary:

A storm jib may not be set in conjunction with any other sail set forwards of the forward mast spar (OSR 4.27.1)

A storm jib is not permitted to have battens (OSR 4.27.4)

This potentially affects the IRC declaration for number of headsails on boats that have been using an ‘OSR storm jib’ as a staysail or in combination with another sail.

Please check, and if necessary update the declaration for Number of Headsails when you revalidate.
