Thea, Shop Girl Consignment owner, is one busy entrepreneur. A new store opened in Sandy. Singer when requested. And interviewee on national media. Thea was interviewed recently by a national news station. She shared her opposition to the capital gains tax, Measure 26-238. Like many business owners, assisting those in need is important, but this measure is poorly written and a backbreaking burden on family businesses and taxpayers at all levels.

Pick a gift card and Shop local for Mother's Day. Lots of places to pick from. The Salvation Army Gresham Corps Plant sale, Al’s Garden Center, Gresham Historical Society & Museum Plant sale, Junki’s Riverview Restaurant (make a reservation early), or a gift card for a massage. Lots of members would love to be part of celebrating Mother's Day with you.

If your ballot has arrived...PLEASE VOTE.  The chamber is strongly urging a YES vote on the Public Safety Levy. Results are expected to be close. More sworn officers will be funded with the passage of Measure 26-239.

As a vegetable lover and food enthusiast, I jumped at the opportunity to get my rain boots in the mud and visit a few farms with Growing Gardens, a Portland-based nonprofit that helps cultivate access to culturally appropriate and healthy, sustainable food. Volunteer events and the Chef in Your Garden series highlighting local chefs and farms are a couple ways to get involved.
