The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is proud to host the 16th Annual Faith and Spiritual Affairs Conference on Friday, April 28.
This year’s theme is “Healing from the Hurt with Trauma-Informed Care.”
The conference will focus on ways to motivate, equip, and heal from the trauma we experience as a city from violence, substance crises, the impact of the pandemic, years of poverty, and systemic racism. We will have workshops, testimonials, speakers, and resources to offer guidance, healing opportunities, and emotional wellness.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify two options available for continuing the conversation between faith and spiritual communities, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS), the provider community and the community-at-large to promote optimal health and well-being of Philadelphia’s individuals and communities.
  2. Explain how DBHIDS, faith communities and public sector agencies can work together effectively to achieve better outcomes for families and communities through prevention and early intervention.
  3. Outline one strategy promoted by DBHIDS to integrate a trauma-informed care approach into the delivery of behavioral health services as well as into community services and supports.
  4. Identify two city service systems which have been transformed to allow easier access and/or more effective outcomes.
  5. Examine collaboration opportunities to reduce trauma and harm and promote social and spiritual wellness.
  6. Understand how to implement a therapeutic framework into the workplace to support staff who are continually exposed to secondary trauma.
