With great sorrow we mourn Father David Gentry

The Board and staff of Solidarity with South Sudan, and all those involved in our mission in South Sudan, mourn the passing of Father David Gentry. We were deeply saddened to hear of his sudden and unexpected death last month.

Father David served with great passion and dedication as the Mission Promoter for our Solidarity with South Sudan project for several years. His time spent in South Sudan, getting to know our various projects left a lasting and positive impact on the members of our communities and even on the beneficiaries of our initiatives. He is fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with him.

From Rome, Father David worked tirelessly alongside his colleagues in the Rome office of Solidarity with South Sudan, to promote and raise awareness of our project among various religious congregations. His kindness, commitment, and unwavering support were truly characteristic of his life and work.

He was involved in many Church networks while in Rome, bringing to each his faith, commitment and interest in promoting the welfare of South Sudan and his people.

We are grateful to God for the gift of Father David’s life, and we commend him to the tender care of the Virgin Mary. May he rest in peace, and may God bring comfort to all who mourn his loss.
