Science Comes to Life at Barker Elementary School

Earlier this week, the outside was brought into the classroom at Barker Elementary through a special visit from “Amazing Animals,” a program administered by the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE). This exciting, hands-on presentation introduced students to incredible creatures while inspiring them to explore nature and build a deeper understanding and appreciation for the environment. GGUSD is proud to partner with programs like this that bring science to life and spark curiosity in our students!

Garden Grove High School Hosts Annual Talent Show

Garden Grove High School showcased incredible student talent at its annual Student Talent Show! From singers and dancers to musicians and performers, students lit up the stage with creativity, confidence, and school spirit. Heritage Elementary Computer Science Academy Hosts Special 'Bingo for Book' Event

Heritage Elementary Computer Science Academy recently hosted a fun-filled Bingo for Books event! Families gathered for an exciting evening of bingo, prizes, and a shared love of reading. Students went home with new books to enjoy, helping to spark a lifelong passion for literacy. GGUSD is proud of Heritage for creating engaging events that bring families together and support student success!

Pacifica Unveils Mural Rooted in Naval History

Visitors driving along Lampson Avenue will now spot something bold and new — a vibrant series of nautical flags painted across Pacifica’s buildings! The flags spell out “Pacifica”, tying the school’s proud history to its maritime identity. Together, they proudly declare: “Home of the Pacifica Mariners.” This new mural adds to a legacy deeply rooted in pride, excellence, and connection to the U.S. Navy. 


The anchor in the quad, donated by the Navy, stands as a symbol of strength and unity — repainted black in 2011 to honor Pacifica’s enduring bond with the sea.

That same spirit thrives in Pacifica’s NJROTC, established in 1996, where cadets continue to lead with honor — earning 1st in the state and 2nd in the nation in 2025!

From the anchor in the quad to the flags along Lampson, Pacifica High School remains: Anchored in honor, driven by purpose, and united by tradition.

Zeyen Elementary Welcomes Hare Students for Special Project

Collaboration and creativity were in full swing this week as Hare High School students partnered with transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students at Zeyen Elementary to design and build colorful piñatas! Through this fun, hands-on project, older students served as mentors—guiding their younger peers through each step of the creative process while sharing smiles, laughter, and encouragement along the way. The activity not only sparked imagination but also fostered teamwork, leadership, and community connection between GGUSD schools.

GGUSD Welcomes New Classified Employees at Orientation Meeting

We had a great turnout at yesterday's New Classified Employee Orientation and district leaders provided an overview of the district as well as what makes GGUSD such a great place to work! We're excited to have a wonderful group of new classified employees, many who are homegrown or GGUSD parents, and are serving GGUSD students as office clerks, school community liaisons, health aides, instructional aides, food service workers, and other important roles in the district.

Today’s spotlight shines on Amanda Mulvey, a proud GGUSD alum who attended Enders Elementary, Bell Intermediate, and Pacifica High School. Now serving as a Teacher on Special Assignment for Induction at the District Office, Amanda has dedicated 19 years to inspiring and supporting educators across GGUSD.

Amanda shared, “This district has always felt like home. My credential fieldwork and student teaching allowed me to experience its diverse classrooms firsthand, reinforcing the love I developed as a student. The exceptional teachers who inspired me growing up, many of whom I’ve since had the privilege of working alongside, are a testament to the district’s lasting positive influence.”
