"It really makes my heart sing!"

Senior care is both her work and her volunteer passion

It seems like ages ago, but really it was only a year and a half.

In June 2018, my friend Bea Farley called me with a suggestion. An invitation, really.

Knowing I’m passionate about eldercare, she encouraged me to join her as a RideConnect volunteer driver.

Bea knows me well: I deeply care about helping all people in need, but I’m especially passionate about helping people age safely in their own homes and getting them the services they need regardless of financial means.

So when Bea extended the invitation to grow my involvement in helping others age with compassion and dignity, she knew I wouldn’t say no. Nor would I want to.

As a registered nurse who specialized in geriatric care, I know how important the services and human connections are that RideConnect provides for elderly people.

Getting to know those I drive and shop for through my volunteerism with RideConnect has been a real gift. Those I’ve helped are so grateful and appreciative - it really makes my heart sing!

Today I want to pay Bea’s invitation to me forward by inviting you to become a RideConnect volunteer.

Meet Pat Vosburg

Registered nurse for 42 years
Experienced with birth through pediatrics, adolescent, adult medicine, and geriatric nursing
Geriatrics: my passion since 2006 after leaving a position as a school nurse to work as a Legal Nurse Consultant reading medical malpractice cases on the neglectful abuse of the elderly in nursing homes and hospitals
2011: Knew I needed to stop reading about such atrocities and go back into the trenches to do more good
On the board of the Long Term Care Coalition Community, a national nonprofit fighting for the rights of the elderly in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities
Today: In private practice, working with elderly individuals and their families to ensure they have the safe support they need, conducting safety visits and home medical assessments, coordinating medication management and placement of caregivers, providing advocacy services in the event of an ER or hospital visit, and end-stage services when needed.
June 2018: At the invitation of a friend, joined the RideConnect volunteer team as a driver for those aged 60+ needing assistance

RideConnect is a fabulous organization and I’m proud to be a volunteer. I know you will be, too!
