Celebrating the Power of Wind, Clean Energy and a Green Environment

Virginia Beach Chiropractor “Signs On” as a WINDSday Partner

I admit I like Allison Schwartz, DC. Every month or so, she keeps my spine in tune, preventing (God willing) a second fusion (number one by Jordan Young neurosurgeon David Vincent MD in 2019 was a major success). But besides Allison’s upbeat personality and tender touch, I hungered for her sign.

I’m speaking of the one that fronts the small strip center in which Premier Health Chiropractic is located on Independence Boulevard, just north of Pembroke Mall. Thousands of vehicles pass it, and millions of eyeballs see it. What a perfect spot to promote a WINDSdays Special?

What is the come-on? Just text WINDSdays to 757-962-6191 and receive a complimentary ten minute “water energy” massage on a comfy bed that rolls up and down your back. I’ve done it. It’s awesome.

So is Allison, who grew up in New Mexico, loved science and worked in a chiropractor’s office where she discovered that misalignments of the vertebrae can exacerbate asthma. A few adjustments later, she dispensed with her thrice a day inhaler. “When you free up the nervous system,” she says, “it tells the lungs what they’re supposed to do.” That led to chiro school in Dallas and eventually a move with her pastor husband Andrew (Portlock United Methodist in South Norfolk) to Hampton Roads to be closer to family in northeast NC.

The Schwartzes have a busy household (three kids, ages 5, 7, 10), and Allison has an active practice with patients like me who favor the Impulse IQ device she uses, which performs adjustments 300 times faster than physical force (“like a nail gun instead of a hammer”). Allison loves less reliance on fossil fuels and more on renewables like wind, which is why she’s a WINDSday partner.

Want to join her? You just need a little of Allison’s “energy” and my email address, [email protected]

VMA Mixer Was Fun and Full of

New WINDSday Fans

In spite of the cold winter weather, the membership mixer sponsored by the Virginia Maritime Association (VMA) in partnership with WINDSdays was a rousing success. Let’s call it a sign that folks were ready to be together on a WINDSday evening at Chick’s Oyster Bar in Virginia Beach, one of the truly fun places to eat, drink and gather in our vast region.

There were more than 180 shippers, brokers, attorneys, terminal operators, insurers, ship fixers and others who work in and around our ports sipping crushes and munching hush puppies this night. And all of them see an economic benefit to the offshore windfarms planned for sites off Virginia Beach (Dominion Energy) and Kitty Hawk NC (Avangrid Renewables).

To join the VMA, go to vamaritime.com. They are not only great advocates for the industry, but Laura Bird, Jennifer Parham, David White, Will Fediw and the team there also know how to throw a good party.

Show Us Your Big Trees!

WINDSday Partner Lynnhaven River NOW is looking for Notable Trees, like this 500-year-old cherry bark oak in Blackwater near the Carolina line. If you have an old or unusual tree that you think it worthy of notice, send the photo to Brent James at [email protected]. He’ll check it out and perhaps let you know its lineage.
